BREAKING: Lightning Lanes and Virtual Queue Fill Up in SECONDS for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Opening Day in Disney World

There is no more we are “almost there”, because we are actually here! We have been awaiting the opening of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Magic Kingdom since Splash Mountain closed on January 23rd, 2023.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is officially opening TODAY in Magic Kingdom, and of course, we will be providing you live coverage of everything happening today.

One important thing we have been keeping an eye on is both the virtual queue and Disney Genie+ availability for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. This ride does not offer a stand-by line, so your only options to be able to ride are to grab a virtual queue, or purchase Genie+ and make a selection for the ride.

We kept a close eye on Genie+ and saw that the Genie+ time slots for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure sold out in SECONDS. We refreshed to see the Genie+ box light up for the attraction…

…and just seconds later, it was full. We refreshed twice before the box was greyed out. If you’re trying to ride today, another round of Virtual Queue spots will open at 1PM. Just make sure you are inside Magic Kingdom before that time if you want to try.

Here’s a look at the pricing for Genie+ on June 28th, 2024. Prices often increase when it’s going to be a busy day, but it doesn’t seem like that was the case today even though Park Passes are sold out for Annual Passholders.

Now you may be wondering, what exactly does that mean for you? Well, the best way to determine that is to take a look at other recently opened attractions to see how long it took their purchase option to sell out. Tiana’s is slightly different since it is utilizing Genie+, whereas most new rides in the past have been available through the Individual Lightning Lane Service.

Individual Lightning Lanes are an a la carte option for some of the most popular rides. For rides that utilize the Individual Lightning Lane system, you will have to purchase an individual pass for them.

The rides that currently utilize Individual Lightning Lane are Avatar Flight of Passage, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, and TRON Lightcycle / Run. Genie+ service is a one-time price you pay to be able to make Lightning Lane selections throughout the day. Genie+ utilizes variable pricing that changes based on the day and includes most other attractions.

Now, let’s see how Tiana’s Bayou Adventure compares with other newly opened attractions! TRON Lightcycle / Run in Magic Kingdom was the most recent opening. This ride utilizes Individual Lightning Lane (versus Genie+ for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure). On the first day of soft opening, the Individual Lightning Lanes for TRON Lightcycle / Run sold out in minutes. 

To compare even further, when Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind opened in EPCOT in May 2022, Individual Lightning Lanes sold out in about 20 minutes. So, while the Individual Lightning Lanes lasted much longer for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, they still sold out pretty quickly.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is a bit different since you don’t need to purchase an additional Individual Lightning Lane, you just need to purchase the Genie+ service for the day and make a selection for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. This means that if you purchase Genie+ for Tiana’s, you will also be able to make additional selections throughout the day.
