We’re breaking out our crystal ball — minus Madame Leota — and looking at what Disney World’s Lightning Lane will look like in 2025.Â
Whatever one thinks of Genie+ and Lightning Lane systems — and trust us, a lot of people have A LOT of thoughts on them – there’s no denying that they’ve changed the very foundation of what a Walt Disney World visit is like since their introduction. Individual Lightning Lane attractions have been true game-changer, as this a la carte option is the first time Disney has charged for rides individually since eliminating the lettered ticket book system over 40 years ago. Currently, there are FIVE attractions at Walt Disney World offering Individual Lightning Lanes, but we feel like that number or which rides MAY change in 2025.Â
Magic Kingdom
Currently, the Magic Kingdom has two rides with Individual Lightning Lane availability: Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and Tron Lightcycle/Run. However, this is where we can see things changing, as the highly anticipated Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is scheduled to open in 2024.
Since this Princess & The Frog-themed Splash Mountain renovation is sure to be in HIGH DEMAND from fans and heavily promoted by Disney, we might have speculated that it would be available as an Individual Lightning Lane. However, Disney announced that Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is going to be part of the regular Genie+ service!
Now, conceivably, Disney could have three individual Lightning Lane rides at the Magic Kingdom. However, given the fact that Disney only allows guests to purchase two individual Lightning Lanes a day, it makes sense to limit it to two rides. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is currently the oldest ride offering individual Lightning Lane, but it continues to post some of the highest standby waits in Disney World, so it’s understandable why it may remain an Individual Lightning Lane in 2025.Â
EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, & Animal Kingdom
We’re going to group these three parks together, as currently they each only have one ride with the individual Lightning Lane option: Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance at Hollywood Studios, and AVATAR: Flight of Passage at Animal Kingdom.
We don’t see any go these Uber-popular attractions losing their Individual Lightning Lanes in 2025, nor do we see any preexisting or upcoming attractions at this parks that seem likely to be added to the Individual Lightning Lane list going forward.Â
Price
The prices of Individual Lightning Lanes fluctuate by demand, however generally Seven Dwarfs Mine Train tends to have the lowest price, and Rise of the Resistance tends to be the highest. We don’t expect demand to fluctuate too much if all of the rides on Individual Lightning Lane stay the same in 2025.
While we’ve speculated as best we can for what Disney’s individual Lightning Lane offerings may look like in 2025, they still may have some surprises up their sleeve. Stay tuned to AllEars for news on Lightning Lane offerings.Â
