There are tons of rides all around Disney World that you have likely been on if you are a big fan of the theme parks.
Between the four parks, there are rides for everyone of every age. But one classic Disney ride continues to be popular among most of us fans — Haunted Mansion. Disney’s Haunted Mansion has variations in many of the theme parks around the world. However, the one in Magic Kingdom boasts a little secret that even the biggest Disney World fans might not know.
Disney has been adding some new elements to the Haunted Mansion in Disney World. The Hat Box Ghost recently appeared carrying his head in a hat box, similar to the one in Disneyland.
But he’s not the secret we’re talking about today as he is quite large and fairly out in the open. You’ll spot the Hat Box Ghost with no problem. The secret we’re talking about is the Candleman! The Candleman is a little figure that was added to the Haunted Mansion at the end of 2023. It’s a bit hard to make out since the ride is so dark, but that’s why he’s one of the best kept secrets on this ride.
The Candleman was designed by Rolly Crump, a Disney legend and Imagineer who passed away early in 2023. This figure was meant to be featured in the Museum of Weird at Disneyland, however, this attraction was never built. It’s a cool nod to the history of Disney and to Rolly Crump.
If you’re hoping to see the Candleman and the Hat Box Ghost, be sure to head to the Haunted Mansion when its wait times are at their lowest!
