Disney World is constantly changing.
The company recently announced some of the projects they’re looking to work on in the coming years, but there are some attractions that have been closed for a while that Disney hasn’t commented on. If you’re heading into Disney World in October, these are the long-term closures you need to know about.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure
This new ride isn’t set to open until 2024, so the former home of Splash Mountain will be closed for a while longer.
We can’t wait to see all that Tiana’s Bayou Adventure has in store, and love keeping up with all the updates we see on construction. Stay tuned to AllEars for all the latest!
1900 Park Fare
1900 Park Fare was a character meal location at the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. It closed in 2020 when the whole park closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and hasn’t opened since.
Many guests were big fans of this all-you-can-eat buffet spot and are hoping for its return. However, the longer the closure goes on, the more people have started to question if it will ever reopen.
Barrel Bridge on Tom Sawyer Island
More recently, the Barrel Bridge on Tom Sawyer Island randomly disappeared. When we asked Cast Members, we were told there was no estimated reopening date.
This doesn’t mean the island is closed as a whole, you can still take the raft over, but part of the island remains unreachable without the bridge.
Voyage of the Little Mermaid
Yes, Voyage of the Little Mermaid is also still closed over in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. This was a live stage show that told the story of the original animated Little Mermaid film.
This is another closure that started along with the rest of the park in 2020 but hasn’t reopened since. And again, many guests are unsure if it will ever return.
Restaurant Marrakesh
Over in EPCOT’s Morocco Pavilion, Restaurant Marrakesh has also been closed since the 2020 park closures.
This is especially unfortunate because while there are many restaurants in EPCOT’s World Showcase, many guests really enjoyed this spot. We’re hoping to see it return someday!
Blizzard Beach
Blizzard Beach also remains closed in Disney World. Meanwhile, Disney World’s other water park, Typhoon Lagoon, is open for all your water park needs.
We’re expecting to hear soon if/when this water park will open, as the water parks have traded off the past few years — when one is open, the other is closed. Since Typhoon Lagoon has been open all year, we’re expecting to hear soon when it will close to make way for Blizzard Beach.

Sadly to say, they have not resumed the Garden View Cafe’s Afternoon Tea at at the Grand Floridian. I hope Disney does not assume that the upcoming Cake Bake Shop’s Afternoon Tea will fill the bill. It likely will not, primarily because it surely will be a very busy place, with animated chatter taking the place of the serene strains of the Grand Floridian’s beautiful harp. Nor will it be a dedicated site for Afternoon Tea. They will also be serving regular meals, in addition to selling items from their retail bakery.
