Watch Out! Unexpected Testing Could Impact Your Next Disney World Hotel Stay

If you’re staying at Disney’s Riviera Resort, first of all, you could be making quite a few people jealous.

This is a deluxe Disney World resort that some people love (particularly because of its food options), though it is a controversial resort for others due to its smaller rooms and big price tag. We’ve done a whole review of the resort to help you decide if it’s the best fit for your family. But if you’ve already decided to stay at this hotel in the next few weeks, there’s something you need to look out for!

If you’re staying at the Riviera Resort from July 18th-August 1st, it seems a fire alarm test is scheduled to be conducted during your stay.

These tests will take place between 10:30AM and 3:30PM, and will consist of an intermittent fire alarm. Plus, Cast Members will need to briefly enter the rooms.

If you’ve got small kids (or even big kids or adults) who like to/need to nap in the middle of the day, this is something you’ll want to keep in mind. It could throw a serious wrench in your plans.

If you’re concerned, we encourage you to inquire with a Cast Member at the front desk to see if they have any more information. Unfortunately, things like this can and do happen as Disney needs to test their security systems. At least there’s a bit of advance notice here if you’ll be staying in the next few days and haven’t arrived yet, but it can be a difficult thing to handle for those who checked in before knowing this would be taking place.

While you can prepare for a lot of things in Disney World, some things — like this or sudden ride closures — can pop up unexpectedly. Sometimes, the most you can do in situations like this is simply to remain as flexible as possible. Try to find an alternative nap spot for the day or shift nap times.
