Think you’re a Disney expert? Think AGAIN!

Hollywood Studios

There are so many hidden details spread throughout the parks, restaurants, and more, that even the ultimate Hidden Mickey seekers might find themselves SURPRISED on a future visit by a tiny detail they’ve totally missed. Today, we’re making our way over to Disney’s Hollywood Studios to take a peek at 2 hidden details that could really blow your mind.

Both of these details are hidden in windows within the park, which serves as a good reminder to always look UP! Sure, you might already know about the amazing windows in Magic Kingdom along Main Street, U.S.A. but the windows at Hollywood Studios are not to be overlooked.

Lend-a-Paw

First up, we spotted some windows with a cat on one side surrounded by the phrases “Lend-A-Paw” and “Pet Clinic.” On the other side is a dog surrounded by the phrases “Therapist” and “Hugo Bark.”

The Window!

Here’s where the fun details come in! Did you know that there was actually a Disney short film by the name of “Lend-a-Paw?” According to D23, the film is a Pluto cartoon that was released on October 3rd, 1941, and ultimately ended up being an Academy Award winner for Best Cartoon. In this short, “Pluto’s jealousy over a new kitten almost causes it to be drowned, but Pluto’s angel self wins out and the kitten is rescued.”

You can actually check out the short on Disney+! It’s not totally clear if this short served directly as the inspiration for this window but considering that it is a Disney short involving a cat and the window is for a pet clinic and shows the image of a cat (albeit one different from that featured in the short) there could be a connection there!

Pet Windows

It’s an interesting thing to look at and something you may have never noticed. And now you’ve got something new to watch on Disney+!

Agent to the Stars!

Next up, we have a window for Mel Rose — agent to the stars! Those who had a deep appreciation for the Citizens of Hollywood and the Streetmosphere characters in the parks might recognize this name.

The Streetmosphere characters that would often appear in Hollywood Studios portrayed those who “lived” in Hollywood. There were starlets, gossip columnists, policemen, and more. The citizens would interact with each other and guests, set up full-scale productions at times, and even do games that involved the audience’s participation.

Citizens of Hollywood

Sadly, the Citizens of Hollywood have been missing in action for quite some time — since the COVID-19-related closures, though they did pop up during a runDisney race.

So now, let’s talk about Mel Rose. That was actually one of the Streetmosphere characters that had been around Disney World from back in the day. In fact, the character is mentioned in a Tampa Bay Times article from 1997!

At that time, the Tampa Bay Times spoke with Jim Braswell, who portrayed the character. Mel Rose was known for being “a smarmy Hollywood agent (Mel Rose, agent to the stars, a rose among thorns).” Braswell described the job as a “great gig” saying, “We’re well paid and have the freedom to pursue other things like local theater groups.”

So if you’re looking for a little remnant of the Streetmosphere characters of the past — you can take a look at this window (above the Cover Story sign) and reminisce.
