Everyone Recommends Rope Dropping Slinky Dog Dash in Hollywood Studios, But This Is a Better Plan

Let’s talk Disney World!

Let’s go to Hollywood Studio!

Disney is always changing from new restaurants to construction throughout the parks, and even changes to character meet and greets! When it comes to things that stay the same though, Slinky Dog Dash has always stayed the same, and here’s what you need to know before you hop on.

Over in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, you can find one of the most popular rides in Disney World, Slinky Dog Dash. If you don’t know what Slinky Dog is, it’s an outdoor roller coaster where you can hop on Slinky Dog’s back and go on a super exciting ride through Andy’s backyard.

This ride is very family-friendly thanks to its 38-inch height requirement. It’s also fast and goes surprisingly high, making it a very popular ride. Today I’m bringing you 3 things you need to know before heading to meet Slinky Dog — and one of them is gonna surprise you!

Toy Story Land at night.

The first thing to know? The lightning lanes for this ride go fast! Thanks to the lower height requirement, more kids can ride this thrill ride than Tower of Terror or Rock ‘N’ Roller Coaster. Thanks to this, many parents go for this lightning lane first thing in the morning.

If you’re planning on skipping Slinky Dog’s line, you’ll need to prioritize it as your number one lightning lane when purchasing Genie+. That leads up to our second thing to know! Second, it’s important to know how miserable this stand-by line can be.

The Slinky Dog line

This entire queue is outside with only part of it being covered. Thanks to the popularity of this ride, the wait times can be some of the highest in Hollywood Studios. I have gotten sunburnt in this line, so bring some water, and be ready to re-apply our subscreen.

Now for a somewhat controversial take — lots of people recommend rope dropping this ride if you aren’t purchasing Genie+, but I’m here to spread the word that this ride is better at night!

This ride is so much fun no matter the time of day but the lights on this ride make it an, even more, fun and unique experience. Not only that, but you can see all of Hollywood Studios lit up!

It also makes the standby line more bearable when standing in it at night. It adds to the experience and is a great cherry on top of a perfect day in Hollywood Studios.
