BIG Changes at TRON, the ‘Moana’ Attraction, and More Projects in Disney World

It has already been a BIG year for Disney World, and we’re just a few days in!

Cinderella Castle

We learned recently that the TRON Lightcycle / Run coaster is opening on April 4th, Disney Resorts are bringing back free overnight parking, and we have return dates for two major fireworks shows in the parks. So if you’re as excited about the next few months as we are, check out this construction update from the parks!

Magic Kingdom

Let’s start things out at Magic Kingdom, where we’re checking on TRON construction progress! When we rode by on the PeopleMover, we could see that like the past few weeks, things were nearly complete. They’re finalizing touches on landscaping.

Final construction touches!

But something interesting that we spotted was the ride warnings sign! (You know, those signs that are near the entrance of rides with the medical warnings and whatnot?) It had been installed on the walkway to the building.

Can you see it?!

Also, we’re seeing the end of construction next to Tomorrowland Light & Power Company, Space Mountain’s gift shop. The walkway has been widened to make way for TRON traffic in the coming months.

It’s a bigger walkway now!

And oddly enough, we have a TRON Lightcycle / Run update from Fantasyland this week! The walls that were previously up near The Barnstormer came down and were replaced by rolling hedges. The hedges don’t hide near as much as the walls do, and we could see that they were pouring concrete just on the other side.

We’re getting closer!

It’s likely that this will become a back walkway to the ride — how convenient!

EPCOT

Moving on to EPCOT, we have some more updates to share! Progress seems to have slowed on CommuniCore Hall at the moment, at least from what we can see on the monorail. Not much has changed visually here in the past few weeks.

Work continues currently on the walkway through Journey of Water — Inspired by Moana. We’ve seen them smooth out the pathway and begin to pour concrete.

And speaking of new paths — there’s a giant road paved behind the Journey of Water construction! It leads from the back of Spaceship Earth over through World Nature.

There’s a new path!

We’re definitely interested to see what this area looks like when construction is complete!

Hollywood Studios

In Hollywood Studios, we’ve got some changes happening at Roundup Rodeo BBQ for the first time in a while! This week, painting began on the exterior of the building, and we can see the addition of characters including Jessie, Wheezy, and Bo Peep.

The mysterious building that’s near Woody’s Lunch Box seems to be getting taller as well, and you can see the progress from the exit area of Toy Story Mania.

We’re definitely intrigued by this construction — what could it be?!

Disney Resorts

As we rode the monorail past the Polynesian Village Resort, we spotted some updates on the DVC building coming soon! There was a crane onsite this week and they seemed to be digging up a lot more of the property for development.

At Disney’s BoardWalk, things are coming along at the future home of The Cake Bake Shop. We spotted some demolition on the building that was formerly the ESPN Club.

They’re definitely overhauling the vibe of this space to match the theme of the future restaurant!

Disney Springs

And finally, we head to Disney Springs to take a look at Summer House on the Lake! The frame of the building is really starting to take shape. We’re excited to eat here soon!

Those are all the major construction updates that we have for you right now — stay tuned to AllEars for more news from the parks and resorts in the coming weeks and months.
