Summer has officially arrived, which means the Disney parks are BUSY!
There’s been quite a lot going on in Disney World lately — we already told you about 10 ride closures in Disney World in one day and brought you some major Disney World restaurant menu updates. But we’ve also got some more important news to share with you, so here are the five BIGGEST Disney news stories of the week.
2023 Disney World Vacations Are Available for Booking
It’s time to start planning that 2023 Disney World vacation because those bookings are now available. That means you can book next year’s Disney World hotel, tickets, and vacation packages RIGHT NOW.
However, be sure you’re aware of the sneaky price increase for 2023 Disney World tickets. We did a complete in-depth analysis to compare the 2022 prices to this upcoming year, and many days in 2023 were more expensive than before!
How You Buy Disney Genie+ Has Officially Changed
When Disney Genie+ (the paid replacement for FastPass+) was first introduced, Disney World guests could add it to their tickets ahead of their visit (but only if they added it to every day of their trip). However, Disney announced this would change, and guests could no longer purchase Genie+ in advance. As of this week, those changes have gone into effect.
Now, Genie+ is only available to buy through the My Disney Experience app on the day of your park visit. You can buy it starting at 12AM each day. If you’ll be in Disney World for multiple days, you will need to buy Genie+ on each individual day that you want it. Note that this change is specific to Disney World and not Disneyland.
Minnie Vans Are Returning
Minnie Vans (Disney World’s popular rideshare service) are returning to Disney World. We knew that the vans would be returning, but now we know WHEN the service, which is operated by Lyft, will return: June 29th, 2022.
Lyft operates the service, and you can book a Minnie Van directly through the Lyft app. Each van comes with complimentary car seats for little ones, so this may be a good option for families with small children for getting around the resort. Disney has noted that Minnie Vans will not transport guests between Disney World and the Orlando International Airport when the service begins running again. They haven’t said if or when that will happen in the future.
Full Menu Released for Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue
Speaking of things returning to Disney World, the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue will be back on June 23rd, 2022. Reservations are available now. But even better, we now know what the menu for the dinner show will look like when it returns!
For starters, there’s the Hoop Salad, which is made with “the signature ‘hoop’ vinaigrette topped with sharp white cheddar, cucumbers, and tomatoes.” Other appetizers include the House-made Cornbread (served with honey butter) and Creamy Coleslaw.
Main course dishes include Pecan-smoked BBQ Pork Ribs with BBQ sauce and Legendary Fried Chicken. There are a few sides available, too, including Cornbread-crusted Macaroni and Cheese, Home-style Mashed Potatoes, and Cowboy Beans.
For dessert, there’s the “the delectable ‘Ma’s famous Strawberry Shortcake,” which is topped with strawberries and whipped cream. We can’t wait to taste everything when this dinner show finally reopens later this month!
Times Revealed For Reimagined Finding Nemo Show
The Finding Nemo: The Musical show in Disney’s Animal Kingdom is being reimagined as Finding Nemo: The Big Blue…and Beyond! The updated version of the story will focus on Finding Dory, with scenes from the Marine Life Institute. It will feature both new and old songs alike.
The show will open on June 13th, 2022, and we now know what times guests will get to see it each day! Head to the Theater in the Wild at 10:30AM, 11:30AM, 12:30PM, 2:30PM, 3:30PM, or 4:30PM each day to watch the show.
