There have been many changes in Disney World following the beginning of the global pandemic in 2020.
Recently, we’ve seen Disney World returning to “normal” again in a few ways, as plexiglass barriers come down and the only remaining closed Disney World hotel prepares to reopen. Today, Disney announced that a program is returning to EPCOT, and a lot is about to change!
Before 2020, EPCOT was known for its Cultural Representative Program, which allowed people from all over the world to apply to culturally represent their countries as Cast Members in the World Showcase. This program has been suspended since 2020, and today Disney made an exciting announcement!
The Disney Cultural Representative Program is coming back! Disney announced that they will be re-introducing the program in phases, with “participants from select countries whose 2020 program was shortened or canceled now being offered the opportunity to apply.”
The Cultural Representative Program will welcome the first phase of participants in August, with initial recruitment focusing on the countries of Germany, Italy, Norway, UK, France, and Canada. Residents of other countries will be invited once more travel restrictions are lifted.
UPDATE: Disney has since announced that the Cultural Exchange Program is also returning! According to a newer Instagram post, Disney has said that the Cultural Exchange Program will be returning for “select countries.” Guests can apply now.
The cultural exchange program is a 3-month experience that allows participants to work in roles at the theme parks and resort hotels. Essentially, it gives international students the chance to spend their summer break working at Disney.
Disney indicates that applicants will be required to interview in one of the following countries: Canada, France, Italy, Germany, Norway, or United Kingdom.
