Even Disney World rides have to take a vacation every once in a while.

Attractions close for refurbishment regularly at Disney World to ensure that the rides are in perfect condition for guests, and this popular Magic Kingdom attraction just closed for refurbishment. Don’t worry though — it’s only for a couple of days!
If you’re visiting Magic Kingdom on February 14th-18th, you won’t be able to go on the wildest ride in the wilderness, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. The attraction will only be down for four days, and the Disney World website says that the closure is due to routine maintenance.

As of today, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is officially closed in Magic Kingdom, with a very funny sign in front of the attraction.

Is Big Thunder closed for refurbishment or a mountain goat infestation?? We’ll let you decide.

Big Thunder is currently scheduled to reopen on February 19th at 9AM, but we’ll be watching closely to see if anything changes.

If Big Thunder Mountain was going to be your Valentine this year, then you’ll have to switch to one of the other Magic Kingdom mountains. We highly recommend Space and Splash!

That’s a bummer for those at the park for the next 4 days. I know it has to be done, so usually January and February is lower attendance and a good time for maintenance. Not this year.
