NEWS: Orlando International Airport Ranked Within TOP TEN Busiest Airports in US

Turns out that Disney World isn’t the only place in Orlando where you’ll run into some crowds! It’s been a weird few years for the travel industry — we’ve been seeing abnormally large (and small) crowds at various times of the year, making it pretty difficult to predict the crowds on any given day.

Orlando International Airport

Now, data reveals that even the Orlando International Airport is back to being crowded! The emptiness was nice while it lasted.

According to Orlando’s local ABC news station, the Orlando International Airport saw more passengers than any other airport in Florida in 2021.

Guests waiting to board a plane

WFTV 9 reported that airport officials recorded 40.3 million passengers in 2021, which is higher than 2020, but still less than before the pandemic. In 2019, for example, the airport saw a total of 50.6 million guests.

The Orlando Airport is pretty big!

Not only was the Orlando International Airport the busiest in the state, but the high number of travelers in 2021 helped MCO become the seventh busiest airport in the country, according to WFTV 9.

The airport is always hustling and bustling!

In a statement to the local Orlando ABC network, Carson Good, chairman of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority, said, “I expect 2022 to be another year of growth for Orlando and the region.” Considering the crowds we’ve seen in Disney World so far this year, we tend to agree with Good’s prediction!

Looks pretty crowded!

As domestic travel continues to increase, we will be interested to see how Disney World and other local attractions handle the crowds.

It’s been busy in the parks lately!

Recently, Disney CEO Bob Chapek commented on the crowd level in Disney World, saying, “Our ability to increase our guest experience through our [park pass] reservation system…has been something that we really like.”

Morning crowds

Currently, Disney uses a park pass reservation system, which controls the number of guests in each park. While Disney doesn’t typically reveal the total number of guests in each park, CEO Bob Chapek commented that Disney Parks were “generally operating without significant mandatory COVID-19-related capacity restrictions.”

The crowds are hard to predict!
