Star Wars has such rich lore, and the Disney Parks are basically a masterclass in immersion, so it only makes sense that they join forces to create the ultimate immersive galactic destinations! Lately we’ve seen Star Wars mugs, ears, and more details on the Star Wars hotel that’s opening soon! This Star Wars experience is back in the parks, and we can’t wait to show you!
For the past couple of months, the Build Your Own Lightsaber station in Tatooine Traders at Disney’s Hollywood Studios was closed due to a shortage. Today, we were excited to see that the station was open again!
The Build Your Own Lightsaber station in Tatooine Traders isn’t the only Lightsaber building experience you can find at Hollywood Studios. You can always do the super-immersive Lightsaber building experience at Savi’s Worksop in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, but the station at Tatooine Traders is a much more affordable option.
You can customize your Lightsaber hilt, and choose the color you want to shoot out of it!
There have been a lot of different shortages in Disney World lately, so we were happy to see that this Hollywood Studios experience is back. We’re always staying up to date on all things Disney, so stay tuned to AllEars for more!

Are Both work shop builds the same quality?
Hi Leo! Definitely not. The lightsabers you build in Savi’s Workshop are higher quality and look more realistic.
Difference in quality? I find little to no reviews on lightsabers coming out of either This place or the more expensive one, help? Quality of blade?
What is the difference in light saber at tatooine traders vs Savis workshop?
The ones in Tatooine are telescoping while the ones at Savis are a long blade that doesn’t collapse. They are very cool looking but in my opinion not nearly as kid friendly.
Do we need a reservation for build your own lightsaber at Tatooine Traders? If so do you know how we do this?
Hi Karen! You do not need a reservation to build your lightsaber at Tatooine Traders. Reservations are only required for Savi’s Workshop.
Do these light up? And I thought I read somewhere you can do double bladed (example: Darth Maul) sabers here too? True?
Hi Whitney! The Tatooine Traders lightsabers do light up and there is a special Darth Maul hilt that can be purchased which would allow for the double blading.
