These Disney World Pay-Per-Ride Attractions Are Now Available on Genie+…For A Limited Time!

Out with the old, and in with the new! Earlier this year, Disney World got rid of the FastPass system and replaced it with Genie+!

Genie+ is $15 a day, and it lets you reserve a spot in the Lightning Lane for certain attractions.

The Lightning Lane is similar to the old FastPass line, and lets you join a shorter queue when you make a reservation. Some attractions are also available on a Pay-Per-Ride system that allows guests to pay to skip the line at an individual attraction.

We’ve been learning Disney Genie in Disney World so far

From December 19th to January 3rd, some rides that were previously only available on the pay-per-ride system will be on Genie+! This means that instead of paying individually to skip the lines for these attractions, you can pay $15 one time for Genie+ and get access to the Lightning Lane.

During this time, the only way to skip the lines for these rides will be with Genie+. There are still other attractions that you can pay to ride — see a full list of them here.

  1. We had some friends who used our DVC membership for their trip the first week of December. They decided to buy into the Genie+. There were 6 of them ($$$) which resulted in a big chunk of money for their 7 day trip. He said the money wasn’t worth it. According to him, some of the standby lines had listed long waits but in actuality the wait times were shorter. Hmmm? Surely Disney wouldn’t inflate the wait times in an effort to get more people to buy the Genie+. Before last year’s shutdown, Disney did a very good job displaying accurate wait times. I’ve seen several Disney boards discussing how the wait times weren’t accurate and are usually shorter than listed. I wonder what OR why this has changed. We have a trip planned in January and our friend told me not to buy the Genie+. We weren’t going to do it anyway. It will probably be our last trip to Disney World and I don’t want to give them one penny more. It’s time to use our DVC membership for other destinations.
