Disney just dropped a TON of news on us today, but there was one big project noticeably missing from all the announcements.
We learned about the next generation of MagicBands, an opening timeline for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, and opening dates for the Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser hotel, but we’re still in the dark about this highly anticipated Disney World ride.
TRON: Lightcycle Run was announced back in 2017 and is currently under construction in Tomorrowland in Magic Kingdom. This coaster-style attraction will have guests board two-wheeled “lightcycles” that zoom up to speeds of 59 miles per hour. Although this ride was originally scheduled to open for Disney World’s 50th anniversary, Disney has yet to announce an opening timeline for TRON.
The new Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind indoor roller coaster in EPCOT, which had the same original timeline as TRON, will now open in 2022. Meanwhile, Disney remains silent about their opening plans for TRON: Lightcycle Run.
We’ve seen TRON’s construction progress in Magic Kingdom, but Disney’s continued silence about the status of this ride is loud. We’ll be watching for an announcement any day now, but as of right now TRON: Lightcycle Run does not have an official opening timeline.

I predict 2022 like Guardians of the Galaxy. As vague as you can get! I prefer season and year.
Having been fortunate to ride this several times at Shanghai Disney, all I can say is that if it is essentially the same ride it will blow people away! Can’t wait for this to open at Disney World!
