You know those moments you’re browsing gift shops in a theme park and the price tag on an item absolutely FLOORS you?

We’ve seen quite a few of these over the years in Disney World, whether its a crystal figurine or a pair of designer Minnie Ears. Yet, Universal is a bit different, since the focus of the park falls more towards how movies and franchises come to life! And, that means you might find these extremely expensive items pulled from behind-the-scenes or directly from Universal’s popular events.
After an event concludes, Universal may repurpose some of its items the following year or put it in storage. Halloween Horror Nights is a prime example of this, as set pieces and props are refurbished in order to be used again another year.

Sometimes, though, there are items that are either no longer needed, made TOO specifically and can’t be re-used, or that happen to be fantastic collectors’ items that fans would adore. (And, they’d obviously dish out some serious pocket change for). So Universal has the unique option for many of its visitors, where guests can actually take home pieces of the parks… for a pretty penny, that is!

We’ve seen props from Universal’s events throughout the year pop up as Halloween, Christmas, Mardi Gras, and beyond are celebrating across the parks. During Halloween Horror Nights, you may have fallen in love with one of the skeletons from the Scarecrow Stalk. Or maybe you really wanted to take home one of those mini decorated Christmas trees from the Holiday Tree Hunt for your own living room.

Either way, you might actually be lucky enough to find them for sale in the following weeks after these events have concluded! But, there’s a bit of a catch! We’ve seen Universal’s props sell anywhere from hundreds of dollars to upwards of thousands of dollars, depending on the item. (It’s a real investment.)

If you’re looking for a more consistent way to scope out props actually used in the parks, though, you can pop into Universal Studios Florida to visit Williams of Hollywood! This is Universal’s designated “prop shop,” where guests can find sets, props, souvenirs, and MORE that have either been featured in the parks or nestled backstage.

But, the items found inside Williams of Hollywood aren’t just limited to props from Universal’s events! The store is know to have also sold pieces from attractions here, like the cow prop from Twister…Ride It Out before it became Race Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon!

Fans can even scope out vintage items, including antique furniture, jewelry, and even movie memorabilia! We’ve even spotted the famous Hoverboard from Back to the Future 2 chilling out on Williams of Hollywood’s shelves! The inventory inside the store does change regularly (sometimes on a daily basis), so you can visit again and again for the newest and coolest souvenirs you’ve ever seen in a theme park.

A visit to Williams of Hollywood is similar to “thift shopping,” where the experience is all about returning time and time again to discover things you absolutely LOVE. While the prop shop is no different, quite a few of the souvenirs for sale can have STEEP prices as they’re straight from the hands of Universal creators. So, don’t expect to only spend a few bucks like you would at a thrift store!

Still, we’ve found some awesome bargains in the Williams of Hollywood before. So, don’t be too disheartened if you can’t seem to find something in your price range the first time you visit! Plus, these items might actually worth be shelling out the extra cash for, since they are totally unique keepsakes. And, they’ll definitely give you bragging rights compared to the T-shirts and lanyards you might usually take home from the parks!

Just like each park has its own special features and attractions, Universal Orlando’s awesome props for sale are just one of the reasons we love heading there so much! Universal really does make you feel like you’re on the set of a film at times, which only makes collecting these souvenirs that much more special (even if they’re pricey). And, you can definitely follow along with us at All Ears to see everything new, unique, and exciting in Universal Orlando!
