We Got A FIRST LOOK At Epic Universe’s NEW Nighttime Show!

It’s a very special day in Epic Universe — or, should we say, night!

Celestial Goodnight

Back in June, it was announced that a new nighttime spectacular would be coming to the theme park in July, and now, the day is finally here! On July 7th, Epic Universe debuted Universal Celestial Goodnight, and we got to be among the first to see it come to life.

When announcing the new show, Universal said it would “envelop all of Celestial Park into a captivating display of dancing fountains, breathtaking lighting effects, and a spectacular fireworks finale that will illuminate the nighttime sky.” The show uses 600 synchronized light fixtures, over 350 larger-than-life fountains, and seven million LED lights to create a stunning show choreographed to music from the lands surrounding Celestial Park.

Around 90 minutes before the show began, the crowds began to form around the Celestial Park fountains, so it was very busy when we watched this show. A big part of this crowd was that it was opening night, and no one had experienced this show yet. While we expect the crowds to be much lower than this on a normal day, but we do think this is an experience people will stake out a good spot to see.

Crowds waiting to see Celestial Goodnight

The show itself was a crisp nine minute experience, and while Universal said this would be a moment of fireworks, we think they were underselling themselves, because there were gorgeous HUGE fireworks throughout the entire nine minute run of this show.

The show opens with the Celestial Park narrator discussing how we are about to witness all the powers of the portals combining before our eyes, and then we are straight into the Super Nintendo World section of the show. This section is so bright and colorful, and it has a moment for Donkey Kong where we get to hear the super fun music from Donkey Kong Country.

So much color!

We then move forward into The Wizarding World of Harry Potter — Ministry of Magic section. This part is split into two primary moments one that is bright and fun, and another that is a bit more serious and intense all backed by the incredible Harry Potter music.

Next up, is Dark Universe where you not only get to hear the spooky amazing music from the land but also Dr. Victoria, Igor, and Frankenstein all saying some of their iconic lines from the attraction.

Finally we get to experience Isle of Berk with the absolutely iconic How to Train Your Dragon score as the fireworks start to get bigger and bigger before moving into the finale of the show.

The finale is the Universal theme music and both the fireworks and the fountains get absolutely HUGE in this section. The final firework was so large and sparkly, it was one of the best singular fireworks we have ever seen!

Celestial Goodnight

We really do think this show is a great finale to your day at Epic Universe, and it should be a part of your perfect day. If you are trying to spend your last few minutes getting on one final ride, then that should still be your priority. However, if you’ve completed everything you wanted to do, then this really is an incredible way to end your night.

Celestial Goodnight

This experience is not meant to be like a big fireworks show spectacular you would find over at Disney World. Instead, the goal of this show is to cap off your perfect Epic Universe day with a show that will remind you of all the fun you had and take you back into each portal one last time. This is a kiss goodnight from Epic rather than a whole big production.

But with that being said, the production quality of this show was very impressive; there were tons of fireworks, plus the addition of the fountains and incredible lights working together all around Celestial Park was a magical experience.

This is also a show you would be able to watch several times and find new things to see. We were facing Helios Grand Hotel, which we do think is the best view since that’s where you can see all of the biggest fireworks. However, there were also fireworks coming from each portal! So you could watch this show multiple times and see a different view each time.

Celestial Goodnight

At this time there’s no end date in sight for this show, so it’s assumed that it’ll be around for the foreseeable future. If you want to make sure you get a great spot for the show, we recommend setting aside time about half an hour beforehand to get yourself settled; that way, you’re prepared!

Celestial Goodnight

Overall, this was an incredible experience and a great final moment to end your perfect day at Epic Universe.
