NEWS: Universal Permit Hints at New Dark Universe Ride in Epic Universe

Who would like to see Epic Universe get a new ride or two? We certainly would…which is why we’ve been keeping an eye out for permits being filed for Universal Orlando’s new theme park.

Now, last year, we spotted a permit that could hint at an Epic Universe expansion, and in March, we spotted a permit for a “future attraction,” but then that permit disappeared. Well, now, a permit filed in April has surfaced, and it’s for site work at a location deemed to be part of Dark Universe that could also be related to the permit that disappeared. So let’s talk about what we know.

This permit was filed on April 26th with “Special Projects” listed under its name. The address is for Epic Universe, but the permit mentions that it will “label building as 1570 on the utility plan.” So 1560 is Curse of the Werewolf, one of the rides in Dark Universe, which would put 1570 in Dark Universe, as well.

The work type is listed as “Site work only,” which could be just about anything, but Area 680 is also mentioned.

Remember that disappearing permit we mentioned? Well, that permit for a “future attraction” alluded to Project 680. So it’s likely the two are connected in some way. Here’s that permit:

So what does that mean? Well, a new attraction may be coming to Dark Universe. Universal Orlando has not made any announcements about new attractions in its newest park, but it seems like there may be plans to expand Dark Universe soon.
