Disney Drops NEW LOOK at Magic of Disney Animation in Hollywood Studios

Hollywood Studios just opened a brand-new land, The Walt Disney Studios courtyard! This area is themed after the Walt Disney Animation Studios lot in Burbank, California, where all of your favorite Disney movies come to life.

But eagle-eyed Disney fans noticed that The Walt Disney Studios is missing a major attraction in its lineup. This brand-new experience won’t open until later this summer, but Disney just shared a first look!

The main attraction of the Walt Disney Studios courtyard will be The Magic of Disney Animation. It’s modeled after the Disney Animation Studios headquarters, where some of our favorite characters have taken over! Disney just released a map of the new Animation building, which has four attractions inside.

The main attraction of The Magic of Disney Animation is Off the Page. This is a massive meet-and-greet space where you can meet six characters – Donald and Daisy, Chip and Dale, Goofy, Stitch, Mulan, and Rapunzel. The space itself is themed after various sections of the animation process.

You can also head to Olaf Draws, where the happy snowman Olaf will invite guests of all ages to sit down and learn to draw some of their favorite characters. With the help of numerous Disney animators, you’ll learn to draw Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Genie, Stitch, Ursula, Moana, Olaf, Nick Wilde, and Judy Hopps.

For younger kids, the Drawn to Wonderland playground is the place to be. This immersive indoor (air-conditioned!) playground is themed after Alice in Wonderland, and you’ll slide and play through iconic scenes from the film, like the Mad Tea Party, the Mad Hatter’s house, the Queen of Hearts’ vibrant rose garden, and the Cheshire Cat’s mysterious Tulgey Wood. It’s important to note that this space is only for ages 5 and under.

Lastly, in the Once Upon A Studio Theater, you can enjoy the Emmy Award-winning short film that inspired the land, Once Upon A Studio. This theater honors more than a century of Disney Animation storytelling, and enhanced effects add an extra layer of magic.  During the film, you can spot characters popping up within the artwork along the theater walls!
