Get ready for takeoff!

While some travelers may have never heard of their name, Sun Country Airlines has been a major player in the U.S. ultra-low-cost airline market for over 40 years. Based out of Minneapolis, the carrier currently flies to 81 destinations and operates more than 100 routes throughout the Caribbean, United States, Canada, Mexico and Central America, in addition to being a contracted cargo carrier working with Amazon. However, if you’re planning to fly with Sun Country, there are definitely some things you need to keep in mind.
Pack Light
Like many of their low-cost brethren, Sun County has some strict baggage rules. Each passenger is allowed one personal item of no larger than 17 x 13 x 9 inches that must fit under the seat in front of them. After that, any addition baggage — checked or carry-on – costs extra. Rates for those bags vary by flight, but the require measurements remain uniform: a carry-on bag can no larger than 24 x 16 x 11 inches (including wheels and handles) and weigh no more than 35 pounds. A checked bag can be no larger than 62 linear inches (length + width + height) and weigh no more than 50 pounds or the passenger will be hit with an oversized baggage fee. A checked bag cannot exceed 100 pounds in total.

Download Entertainment
While WiFi on airplane has arguably become commonplace on some carriers, that’s not the case for Sun Country. So be sure to download any movies, tv shows, audiobooks, music, podcasts, or other form of entertainment you want for your flight, as streaming won’t be an option.

Spring for the “Best Seats”
Sun Country has three seat varieties on their planes: Best, Exit Row, and Standard. The Best option truly is the best option, as these seats include more legroom (34 inches vs 29-30 in Standard), a moveable headrest, an extra three inches of recline, both USB charging ports and standard AC power outlets, priority boarding, and a complimentary premium beverage.

If you’re planning on flying Sun Country Airlines any time soon, make sure to follow these unwritten rules to make your flight as enjoyable and smooth as possible. Stay tuned to AllEars for further travel tips.
