2 Big Construction Updates Hit Disney’s Hollywood Studios This Week

Hollywood Studios has been through a LOT lately.

The popular Disney World park has recently opened some new attractions (including Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets and the updated Walt Disney Studios courtyard), but there’s more on the horizon. We’re keeping a close eye on construction in the park, and today we have some updates.

First up, we have a smaller construction project to share. Currently, there’s a bit of scaffolding on Tower of Terror as some exterior work is done on the facade of the ride.

Construction on Tower of Terror

At the moment, most of the scaffolding is on the side of the building, above Tower Hotel Gifts. This means it likely won’t affect your family photos on Sunset Boulevard with the park icon. The ride remains open at this time.

An up-close view.

But the bigger ongoing project in the park is the transformation of Muppets Courtyard into Monstropolis. This area has been under construction for over a year now, and we’re seeing a LOT of scaffolding above the walls.

Lots happening!

The old home of Muppet*Vision 3D is being worked on as it is turned into The Glob theater. There also seem to be some changes happening at the former location for PizzeRizzo and Gonzo’s Royal Flush bathrooms.

More construction!

Some of the spaces in this area will be changed to fit with the theming of Monsters, Inc., while others will be constructed anew. In the back of the new land will be the Monsters, Incorporated headquarters. There, you’ll find the new roller coaster, which will be Disney World’s first suspended roller coaster!

A look at the upcoming land
