Let’s Go on a Walt Disney World Crawl of the Moderate Resorts!

In the world of Walt Disney World Resort hotels, there are three main categories based mainly on price per night: Value, Moderate, and Deluxe. As you may suspect, Value Resorts offer the most value in terms of price (biggest savings!), whereas Deluxe Resorts offer more amenities but for a higher price tag.

The Moderate Resorts are in that sweet spot in the middle, offering a balance of more amenities at a lower price than say, Disney’s Grand Floridan Resort or Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.

Today, we’re going on a Moderate Resorts crawl to share some of the great perks about staying at these Resorts!

Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort

Let’s start at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort! This Moderate Resort is MASSIVE, offering over 1,500 rooms across more than 40 acres of land. It recently went under a pretty hefty renovation, in addition to being added along the new Skyliner route.

Caribbean Beach has one of our favorite poolside bars, Banana Cabana! The decor is colorful and fun, for starters.

You can stop by for a bite to eat, or you can enjoy one of their many tropical beverages! They carry all the usual favorites like Mai Tais and Margaritas, but you can enjoy their specialty drinks, too, like the Goombay Smash! This is a mixture of Cruzan Disney Select Single Barrel Rum, Parrot Bay Coconut Rum, Plantation Original Dark Rum, Sweet-and-Sour and Pineapple Juice.

Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort

Next up is Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort. This is another sprawling resort, with a new addition, Gran Destino Tower, which opened in summer of 2019.

Gran Destino Tower has a couple of stops we’re going to make now on our crawl around the Moderate Resorts. The first stop is at Dahlia Lounge.

Dahlia Lounge

This rooftop lounge is adjacent to Toledo — Tapas, Steak, & Seafood, the Table Service restaurant that sits atop Gran Destino Tower. If you want sweeping views of the resort but don’t want to commit to a full meal, Dahlia Lounge is a great option!

Dahlia Lounge features plenty of specialty Gin Tonics, a signature drink of Gran Destino Tower.

If you aren’t keen on heights, there’s another bar and lounge at Coronado Springs worth checking out! Barcelona Lounge is on the lower lobby level of Gran Destino Tower. And even if you’re not thirsty, you’ve got to venture here to see this incredible stained glass design behind the bar.

In the morning, you can stop by for one of their signature espressos and a light snack of a pastry or yogurt cup.

In the afternoon and evening, Barcelona Lounge serves up cocktails — including more Gin Tonics. (It’s such a thing at Gran Destino Tower!)

Coronado Springs has a third notable lounge: Three Bridges Bar & Grill. This spot in the middle of the Resort’s Lago Dorado features beautiful views of a different kind and some tasty bites to go along with them!

Disney’s Port Orleans Resort — French Quarter

The next two resorts are sister sections of Disney’s Port Orleans Resort. These twin resorts, French Quarter and Riverside, sit alongside the Sassagoula River (and are a quick boat ride from all the dining and shopping at Disney Springs!).

Port Orleans — French Quarter is a Disney fan favorite in terms of bars and lounges. Sassagoula Floatworks is THE place to be to grab some spiked beignets!

French Quarter is also home to Scat Cat’s Lounge, a lively nighttime hotspot that opens at 4PM and features live music five nights a week.

Disney’s Port Orleans Resort, Riverside

Disney’s Port Orleans Resort — Riverside is a little quieter than its sister resort French Quarter. While you aren’t in the middle of the hustle and bustle coming out of Scat Cat’s, there are still a couple of spots to sit back and enjoy a beverage or two!

Your two options here are going to be Muddy Rivers and River Roost Lounge. The first bar, Muddy Rivers, is an outdoor bar by the resort’s main pool.

The second, River Roost Lounge, is a cozy bar and lounge area where you can really feel like you’re getting away from it all.

No matter which Moderate Resort you choose, you’ll find great bar and lounge options to sit back and relax. You don’t need to spend top dollar at Disney World to get some pretty spiffy perks, and the options at Caribbean Beach, Coronado Springs, and Port Orleans will make you think you’re in the lap of luxury!
