The 5 Disney World Hotel Rooms That People Request the Most

If you’re paying the big bucks to stay on property in Disney World, you’ll likely want to get the best room possible for your budget.

And while there are many excellent room options you can choose to pay to upgrade to, there are also some room types that you can actually request, many times without paying extra.

The Toy Story Section at All-Star Movies

Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort is divided into five sections themed to various Disney and Pixar films. Though the rooms look the same on the inside across the resort, the outside areas surrounding your hotel room are themed to match their section’s film.

By far the most popular of these areas is the Toy Story section, featuring larger-than-life versions of Woody and Buzz Lightyear. The rooftops are decorated with Green Army Men, and you’ll find some other characters scattered throughout the section, which even has a giant door that opens to “Andy’s bedroom.”

Of all the movie-themed areas, this one is requested most frequently. Technically, these rooms are part of the “preferred” section at All-Star Movies, so you’ll want to book that category and then request this area.

DVC Rooms That Are Closer to the Lobby

Several hotels in Disney World are Disney Vacation Club Resorts, where DVC members can use their points to book a stay. Regular guests can also stay here; they’ll just pay for the room out of pocket. But one problem that many of the DVC resorts have? The really long hallways.

This is a popular request at spots like the Yacht Club Villas, Beach Club Villas, Jambo House AND Kidani Village at Animal Kingdom Lodge, and more. You might be taking quite a few steps to get to the elevators, lobby, or dining areas if you don’t get a room near the start of the hall.

Specific Campsites at Fort Wilderness

Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground is the only campground in Disney World, and it’s rather popular with many longtime visitors. People who come to camp will often join Facebook groups ahead of time to meet others who are staying at the campground or to get advice on which campsites are best.

By nature of the various loops, some campsites are longer than others or have a better angle for backing in large campers. Others get more shade or are closer to the bathrooms. It all depends on your preferences! But you can look up a map of the resort before your visit to see where you’d like to stay.

Higher Floors to Attempt Fireworks Views

There are several places in and around Disney World where you can catch glimpses of fireworks from the parks, even if you’re not in a “fireworks view” room. In general, the higher floor you stay on, the more likely you’ll get a view of at least one of the shows.

Coronado Springs Gran Destino Tower

This works best with the taller tower-style hotels, as well as those that are closer to the theme parks. Magic Kingdom and EPCOT are the main parks with big fireworks displays, so you’ll want to make sure you have sightlines to either of those parks.

Aruba or Jamaica at Caribbean Beach Resort

Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort has become rather popular in recent years, since it’s home to the Skyliner main hub station. To give themselves an advantage, many folks request to stay in the Jamaica section of the resort, so they’re the shortest walking distance from that station.

The other hack here is to request to stay in the Aruba section. While it’s a little further from the Caribbean Beach Skyliner station, it IS walking distance and close to the Riviera Resort Skyliner Station. You’d still have to ride the Skyliner to the main Caribbean Beach hub if you’re traveling to Hollywood Studios, but you’d be one step closer on the ride to EPCOT.

BONUS: Savanna View at Animal Kingdom Lodge

Now, this one is an actual PAID room category, but many people still request it when staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge, and for good reason. There are a select number of obstructed-view rooms at AKL that provide partial views of the savanna.

These rooms can’t be called true Savanna View rooms because of the obstruction, but you may still be able to see the animals from part of your balcony. And of course, you could request to stay in a traditional Savanna View room when you arrive, and they may offer you the chance to pay to upgrade.

So those are some of the most common room requests in Disney World! Reminder that even if you request a room, there is no guarantee it will be granted. Cast Members will try their best to accommodate, but it’s not always possible due to availability! We’ll make sure to keep you in the loop with more hotel recommendations before your trip.
