I work from the Disney World parks pretty frequently, and believe it or not, one of the parks I’ve had the easiest time finding spots to work from is none other than Magic Kingdom!

Not only are there lots of spots to sit and work (though, they won’t all be quiet, I’ll tell you that now), my ultimate favorite is none other than Tomorrowland Terrace. This long-closed Disney World restaurant is now usually only used for the fireworks dessert parties that take place nearly every night, and sometimes special events. It’s also one of the BEST places to sit down and recharge (or, in my case, work on my laptop), because despite being mostly outdoors, it’s got tons of fans which create great airflow. That’s a huge perk, don’t get me wrong, but the best time to sit there is right at about 2 or 3 PM, because I get to see my favorite parade!
Typically, Tomorrowland Terrace will close for the fireworks dessert party around 4 PM (in my experience, though, it can sometimes be earlier), which means that you can find yourself a seat near the open air windows and see the parade as it comes down Main Street, U.S.A.!

There are numerous tables with great views of the outside, and most of the windows all face towards Main Street or Cinderella Castle. Even if you’re sitting further back, since this spot is empty most of the time, it’s usually easy to see outside and see the parade roll by. I’ve also sat in the slightly smaller seating area (to your left if you’re walking under the Tomorrowland Terrace sign coming from Main Street) that faces the castle more to watch Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire — that’s magical too!

Is this going to be the same as saving a spot on the parade route and seeing it that way? No, of course not, but if you’re like me and don’t do well with stagnant crowds, or you’ve seen the parade numerous times and don’t need the perfect spot, this is a great way to watch it without feeling like you’re being smushed against other people. It’s certainly my preferred spot, especially since I’m staying nice and cool!

Now, it’s important to look closely at what sections of the seating areas are open, as sometimes they’ll be roped off, and that means you’re not allowed to sit in that area. It doesn’t matter if nothing else is going on; it’s there for a reason, and it’s important to respect those rules! The same thing can be said if a Cast Member comes by and politely tells you that they need to close the area soon, and you’ll need to head out. It’s happened to me once before, and it was a bummer since I needed to find another spot, but hey, you gotta do what you’re told!

As someone who sometimes gets a little overwhelmed in the parks and needs a place to decompress for a second, preferably somewhere a little quieter, I can’t recommend Tomorrowland Terrace enough. They’ve also got restrooms both inside the restaurant, as well as right outside the entrance (just in case the ones inside are closed, since again, it’s not used often at all). You’re under shade, have fans above your head to help cool you off, and you don’t need to worry about taking up a table that other people want to use for eating, because other than bringing food over (which you can certainly do!), no one is grabbing food from this area unless it’s during a dessert party, when it’s closed off anyway.
