NEWS: The Skyliner Will Close For Refurbishment Early Next Year in Disney World

You might think the best part about Disney World is the rides or the food, but we’re here to tell you it’s the free transportation!

Disney World offers complimentary buses to and from parks, hotels, and Disney Springs, a ride on the Monorail to get to EPCOT or Magic Kingdom, and a boat to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, EPCOT, and some resorts. Most recently, Disney World added the Skyliner, which can transport guests to and from some hotels and theme parks. But now, we’ve got a Skyliner update that could affect your next Disney World trip.

The Disney Skyliner hub is located at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort and has a line to Disney’s Art of Animation Resort and Disney’s Pop Century Resort, a line to Disney’s Riviera Resort and EPCOT, and a line to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. This is a fun form a transportation for the many guests that stay at these hotels!

However, if you are traveling to Disney World in January 2023, you may not want to rely on the Skyliner. The Disney Skyliner will be closed for refurbishment from January 22nd to January 29th.

The Skyliner tends to close around this time of year (we saw almost the exact same time frame last year).

When the Skyliner closes, we have seen more buses available for guests to use to get to the theme parks, so this will likely be the case during this closure as well. But if you were sold on taking the Skyliner or that’s a big reason you picked a Skyliner hotel, you might want to adjust your trip slightly!

There are a bunch of other refurbishments going on around Disney World right now. The Walt Disney World Railroad is still closed (even though we’ve spotted some Cast Member training and construction updates!), and the restaurants Narcoossee’s and Kona Cafe are both closed for refurbishment right now.
