Hotel Hopping Is About to Get MORE Complicated in Disney World

Let’s be honest — doing Disney World for a full week straight can be nothing short of exhausting. Does anyone else feel like their feet might shrivel up after 5 park days straight? One of my favorite ways to add in some relaxation to my Disney trips is to hotel hop!

Did you know anyone can visit a Disney World hotel using Disney transportation? While you cannot utilize the pools at the hotels, you can admire the resort, grab some food at one of the restaurants, and shop for exclusive merchandise all without a park ticket. It’s a great way to break up your trip and see the calmer side of Disney World. If you’re planning a trip in January 2026, there’s an upcoming Skyliner closure that could impact hotel hopping.

Disney Transportation

When you stay at a Disney World hotel, you receive complimentary transportation across the resort to the parks, Disney Springs, and the water parks. Guests can take buses, boats, and Disney’s Skyliner system.

The Skyliner connects select resorts directly to EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. It’s fast, stroller-friendly, and often quicker than buses, which is why many guests book Skyliner resorts specifically for this perk. It’s also a favorite tool for hotel hopping, allowing guests to easily move between multiple resorts without needing a park ticket.

The Resorts Connected by the Skyliner

There are four Disney World hotels with Skyliner access:

Caribbean Beach acts as the Skyliner hub, making it especially convenient for traveling between resorts or heading to EPCOT’s International Gateway. You can also access Disney’s Beach Club Resort, Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, and Disney’s Boardwalk Inn via the Skyliner at EPCOT’s International Gateway.

The Skyliner Closure

If you’re visiting Walt Disney World from January 25 through January 31, 2026, the Disney Skyliner will be closed for routine maintenance. During the closure, the Skyliner will not operate, and complimentary bus transportation will replace Skyliner routes.

While Disney does provide alternatives, losing the Skyliner can make transportation and hotel hopping slower and less flexible. This refurbishment isn’t unusual, as the Skyliner typically closes once each year for maintenance. However, it will be harder to hotel hop while this is down.

AllEars Tip: Disney Springs is often the easiest transfer point for resort-to-resort travel when the Skyliner is closed, since nearly every hotel offers direct bus service there.

Should You Still Book a Skyliner Resort?

You don’t need to completely rule out Skyliner resorts during this time. Many guests choose these hotels for reasons beyond transportation, including immersive theming, dining options, and room layouts.

However, if Skyliner access is the main reason you’re booking one of these resorts, you may want to consider alternative hotels during this specific week to avoid disappointment.
