UPDATE on 'Cars' Land: Magic Kingdom Has A New Mountain — A Mountain of Dirt

A lot is going on at the moment in Magic Kingdom. A brand new Villains land is being built behind Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, while Big Thunder Mountain Railroad itself is getting a huge update. Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin is also getting its own update, while Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island are being converted into Piston Peak, a new Cars-themed expansion.

Speaking of Piston Peak, we recently visited the construction site, and let’s just say that there’s a lot of dirt being moved around the area now.

When we last visited the construction walls in the middle of Magic Kingdom, we noticed that there were big mounds of dirt throughout the construction site. Here’s what it looked like about a month ago:

Well, now, there’s a lot MORE dirt, and some mounds of dirt are almost starting to look like miniature mountains. Now, we know there will be some hills and structures like this in Piston Peak, so we wonder if we’re starting to see the bare bones of the new land being formed.

When we visited, we also saw workers and equipment on the site who were in the process of creating what will eventually be a new land.

Of course, there’s a lot more work to be done, and Disney has not yet revealed a timeline for when the work might be completed and the new expansion will open.
