NEWS: Disney Cruise Line Reveals NEW Castle With Nods to ‘Moana,’ ‘Tangled,’ and ‘Frozen’

Psst. Hey, wanna see a new Disney castle? Is that even a question?! Who doesn’t like to look at castles? Disney just announced that the first Disney castle showpiece on a Disney Cruise ship was installed. We can’t wait to show you!

The Disney Cruise Line has quite a fleet. But its newest ship, the Disney Adventure, is doing things differently. It’s set to be the largest ship that Disney owns, and voyages will sail from Singapore. Oh, and it’s the first and only Disney cruise ship to feature a CASTLE!

Behold! The storybook castle stands three decks tall and is located in Disney Imagination Garden on the Disney Adventure. It’s part art piece, part Disney history as a first-of-its-kind in the Disney Cruise Line fleet, and part storytelling device. All those elements came together to make something truly magical here.

Like any good Disney showpiece, this one has several nods to Disney storytelling. If you look closely, you’ll see a Disney family crest with a three-panel stained glass window. According to Disney, “Each panel represents a Disney heroine and princess,” including “the water, sky and the heart of Te Fiti from Moana; the sun, earth and the Sundrop flower from Tangled; and the glistening ice and wind from Frozen.” P.S. Every Disney castle around the world has one of those Disney family crests, so this new castle carries on the tradition!

Speaking of hidden Disney details, there are a few other easter eggs, too! Of course, Disney teased a hidden Mickey on the castle, and there’s even a waterfall inspired by the Walt Disney Pictures castle shown before every Disney film.

Here are a few more “fun facts” about the castle:

  • The castle was designed with a paper cut-out style, like a pop-up storybook, so visitors feel like they can “step into their own story”
  • It’s inspired by the spirit of adventure and the sea — there’s a wave pattern surrounding the frame and deep blue colors across the facade
  • This is the first Disney castle at sea

As we mentioned earlier, this castle is located in the Disney Imagination Garden on the ship. Below, you can see some concept art that really brings this space to life. Disney calls this area “the creative heart of the Disney Adventure.”

The Imagination Garden will act as the centerpiece of the ship. Disney explains that as you make your way up the staircase, you’re greeted by a quaint courtyard surrounded by cascading trees designed to look like storybook cut-outs. If you look closely, you might even be able to spot a Sorcerer Mickey topiary orchestrating the gardens!

This will be the seventh ship in the fleet and will have its home port in Singapore. We can expect to see Disney, Marvel, and Pixar stories aboard this new ship. This experience will be totally different from Disney’s current ships and will feature seven themed areas, as seen below.
