If you’ve been waiting for just the right opportunity to visit Universal Orlando’s newest park, Epic Universe, and if you were either curious to see how the park would be received or waiting for the crowds to subside to try to maximize the time you have on your day’s ticket, this might be the best time to visit.

Being amongst some of the first to visit Epic Universe at its initial opening, you might have found yourself experiencing some extreme temperatures, long wait times, and impulsively bought another ticket upon the new restaurants’ opening. But now kids are back in school, parents have returned to work for the fall season to finish out the rest of the year, and the temperatures are starting to drop. Let’s take a look to see if now is the time to visit Epic Universe!
Epic Universe is truly something special. As Universal Orlando’s newest park, its premise of cultivating a family-friendly park that transports you out of reality and immerses you in 5 different worlds, there really is something for all ages to explore and find captivating here.

As someone who has literally watched this park being built with my own eyes, from its initial concept to its current state, having experienced the park on multiple occasions —both solo and with my family —I can honestly say I’ve yet to get tired of visiting this new park. However, I understand — it’s late spring, and the first few months, when the site is exposed to the elements and crowds of summer, aren’t exactly ideal for those looking to get the most out of their one-day visit here, battling both the crowds and the heat.

In case you’re not familiar, to visit Epic Universe, you’ll need a ticket that includes admission to the park. Universal Orlando Annual Passholders are included, as there is currently no option to add Epic Universe to Annual Passes. However, this can get tricky as you’re able to either purchase a singular, standalone Epic Universe admission ticket or include it in a multipark ticket purchase (but again, with just one day’s admission to the new park). So in essence, if you were looking to visit Epic Universe on multiple days, you would need to purchase multiple single-day tickets or a multi-park ticket with the single-day admission PLUS a single-day ticket to Epic Universe if you’re combining multiple days at Universal’s other theme parks while spending more than one day at Epic Universe. This means that the majority of folks visiting Epic Universe are only there for ONE DAY.

So we get it when you’re looking to squeeze every bit of your money’s worth out of your ONE day at Epic Universe. And if extras to help throughout your day, like Epic Universe’s Express Pass add-on or VIP Tours, aren’t quite within the budget you’re looking to stick to, we wouldn’t blame you if you’ve been searching for the BEST time to visit Epic Universe while it’s still brand new.

But is that time NOW? Well, to put it simply, probably! We’ve been keeping tabs on Epic Universe’s ticket sales over the next several months, and even with ticket prices being some of the lowest since the park’s opening throughout the months of October…

…and November for single-day ticket sales….

…the only hiccup we could see in your plans for purchasing tickets is December, when the last two weeks’ worth of admission (typically a high season for Universal’s parks given the holidays and New Year’s) are already sold out.

However, as we mentioned earlier, this isn’t your only ticket option to enter the park. You could also be looking to spend time at Universal’s other parks and combine your Epic Universe ticket with a multi-park ticket. In that case, we also saw similar availability with no dates currently sold out through the end of December.

Alright — we’ve piqued your interest, but since we’re talking value here, how much can you really expect to get done, and how have the wait times been? Yeah, we’ve been keeping a close close eye that, too. Now, admittedly, one of the park’s feature rollercoasters has been closed for several weeks and just recently reopened over the past few days. But even with Stardust Racers reopening, we still are consistently seeing wait times hovering around an hour or less, with the exception of super popular rides like Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter — The Ministry of Magic and Mine Cart Madness in Super Nintendo World’s Donkey Kong Country hovering around 120 to 150 minutes on average.

I recently visited with my family and even with my visit being over the weekend, we still were able to experience ever single ride we wanted throughout the day (even with a few technical delays), multiple rides on some of our favorites, a comfortable amount of down time for meals and quick snack breaks, AND seeing both of Epic Universe’s highlight shows Le Cirque Arcanus and The Untrainable Dragon. Yes, we did all this without any added perks to our day — no early park admission (which you’ll get as a Universal hotel guest), express pass, or VIP Tour (although reflecting on that one kind of stings a bit).

So in short, if you’ve been looking for the “prime” time to visit Epic Universe and experience it all for the first or even a subsequent time for a different experience than you may have had last visit, this is a great time to do it! Although I will caution you to say that, as we venture closer to the holidays like Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s, your window of opportunity for lower crowds and wait times can diminish quickly. For your best chance at getting to do everything on your wish list WITHOUT spending the extra money on add-ons for your day’s experience, this is certain the best time since the park’s opening to do, but you’ll want to do it soon!
