2 of the Absolute WORST Things About My Favorite Disney World Park

Magic Kingdom is undeniably magical, but even the most magical place on Earth has a few frustrating quirks that can catch visitors off guard.

Cinderella Castle

As someone who spent a park day in Magic Kingdom every week for my job, I love this Disney park. There really is a shift in the air when I walk through the train station and start strolling down Main Street. With the nostalgia of the park and the joy from everyone else around you, I feel like you can’t help but smile here. With that said, two things are the absolute worst about this Disney park, and I think you would agree.

The TTC

Even for someone who loves Magic Kingdom, the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC) can be a real headache. Parking at the TTC may seem straightforward at first glance, but it quickly becomes frustrating when you need to go back to your car during the day. Whether you forgot something, need to swap items, or are heading back for a quick break, the sheer size of the parking lots and the long walks from your car to the monorail or ferry line can eat up a surprising amount of time.

If you’re visiting during peak seasons, like the holidays or summer, plan to allocate extra time just for this portion of your day, as it can easily turn a smooth morning into a logistical scramble.

Ferryboat at TTC

Taking the monorail or ferry from the TTC can feel like a gamble. On busy days, lines can back up significantly, meaning that what should be a quick transfer to the park can end up being a 30- to 45-minute ordeal.

For anyone who is excited to hit the rides first thing in the morning, this can be disappointing to have to wait. Even though both forms of transportation are iconic and offer beautiful views, it’s important to plan ahead and be patient. Arriving early, knowing which line moves faster, and factoring in travel time from your car to the park entrance are all necessary if you don’t want to lose precious park time.

Quick Service Restaurants

One area where Magic Kingdom falls short compared to the other parks is its Quick Service restaurants. While the rides, shows, and overall atmosphere are unbeatable, the food options can feel repetitive and lack the creativity you’ll find at EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, or Animal Kingdom. Many of the standard quick-service locations lean heavily on burgers, fries, and chicken tenders, with few options that feel truly inspired or higher quality.

A good old theme park burger

For someone who wants a satisfying meal that isn’t just “standard theme park fare,” it can be a bit of a letdown. The menus really could use a revamp, with a focus on variety and more international or inventive offerings to keep long-time park-goers excited.

Cosmic Ray’s

That said, there are still gems like Columbia Harbour House, which is worth the stop. It’s a rare example of a quick-service location at Magic Kingdom that delivers higher-quality options and a more interesting menu, like lobster rolls, shrimp platters, and vegetarian-friendly choices. Restaurants like this show that there’s potential for improvement across the park if Disney decided to invest more creativity into its quick-service offerings.
