Disney’s Hollywood Studios’ plans for the future just got BIGGER!
Hollywood Studios closed down Muppets Courtyard this year as it prepares to welcome a new Monsters Inc. themed land. The Muppets will be finding a new home within Rock N’ Roller Coaster. Now, Disney has some more plans for Hollywood Studios’ future, and these new plans involve Animation Courtyard!
Disney just announced that the Animation Courtyard in Hollywood Studios is getting a massive overhaul! The Animation Courtyard is home to a few attractions, including Star Wars: Launch Bay, Disney Jr. Play and Dance!, and the brand-new Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure show.
Disney will be closing Star Wars: Launch Bay to bring a new attraction called The Magic of Disney Animation. Disney gave us some of the details, stating, “In 2026, the current home of Star Wars: Launch Bay will transform into a place where kids and kids at heart can laugh, draw, dream, and explore animated new experiences. Topping the building will be Mickey’s iconic Sorcerer Hat (just like the real building in California!), which will cast a spell with pixie dust.”
It will be a place for all fans of Disney animation, a place where your favorite animated Disney characters “come to life”. The new attraction will bring guests short film viewings, animated character interactions through portraits, and lessons on drawing Disney characters.
Your kiddos will have a place to hang out with the new Drawn to Wonderland playground area, themed after the animated classic, Alice in Wonderland.
With the brand-new area confirmed to open in 2026, Disney announced that the Animation Courtyard and Disney Jr. Dance and Play! will be closing on September 25th, 2025. During the closure, the brand-new Little Mermaid show will still be open and available for guests to watch.
