Lightning Lane Multi Pass Is About to CHANGE in Disney World…Again!

Disney World’s Lightning Lane system is about to change… again!

Next week, the resort’s skip-the-line system is going to see a massive shakeup at EPCOT, as Test Track — which officially reopens on July 22nd after a year-long refurbishment and month-long preview period — is set to replace Soarin’ on the park’s Tier 1 list of Lightning Lane Multi Pass attractions. For its part, Soarin’ will slide down to Tier 2.

Beginning on July 22nd, EPCOT’s list of Tier 1 Lightning Lane attractions – of which guests can preselect one experience based on availability when purchasing their Lightning Lane Multi Pass — will consist of:

  • Frozen Ever After
  • Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure
  • Test Track

Tier 2 — of which guests can preselect two or all three of their experiences based on availability when purchasing their Lightning Lane Multi Pass — will consist of:

  • Disney and Pixar Short Film Festival
  • Journey into Imagination with Figment
  • Living with the Land
  • Mission: SPACE
  • The Seas with Nemo & Friends
  • Soarin’ Around the World
  • Spaceship Earth
  • Turtle Talk with Crush

This switch may have a drastic effect on Lightning Lane strategy for the park. The highly anticipated Test Track reopening as a Tier 1 will arguably make it at least slightly easier to get Lightning Lanes for the popular Frozen Ever After and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure attractions.

Test Track

Test Track’s immediate reentry into Tier 1 status is also a testament to how excited many Disney World guests are for the new version of Test Track, which many fans have dubbed Test Track 3.0 (a reference to it being the ride’s third major version, after the late 1990s original and early 2010s refurbishment).

According to Disney, the new version of the ride features the “thrill of the open road” meeting the “innovation of the future.” Guests will “zip past scenic vistas, discover how new technology is shaping the way we connect with each other and the world around us” then “get a glimpse into the future of mobility and the cities of tomorrow before zooming off on an electrifying, high-speed race that will leave your imagination soaring.” In addition, references to EPCOT classics like Horizons and World of Motion (which Test Test replaced nearly three decades ago) are present as well.

Wow!

  1. Any whispers of more rides coming to World Showcase? Remy type Aladdin in Morroco? Mulan or Raya in China? Snow White in Germany? Pinocchio/Jimmy Cricket in Italy?
