I Asked 5 Disney Experts Which Hollywood Studios Ride They Rope Drop First — They All Said the Same Thing

I asked our 5 Disney experts who go to Disney World for their jobs, and somehow they all agreed on this rope drop strategy at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Hollywood Studios is known for thrilling rides and entertaining shows. Our YouTube team is in the parks every week and gives you their tips and inside scoop on how to have a great Disney World vacation. They shared with me the ride they would all head straight for on a morning at Hollywood Studios, and it’s actually surprising!

The team agreed that they would head down Sunset Blvd. and head for the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror! I was surprised by this, but honestly — their logic is genius, so I have to share. Way before Galaxy’s Edge and Toy Story Land, this ride was a solid rope drop option. But, we feel like more guests are rope dropping those newer attractions first. Plus, Tower of Terror is toward  the front of the park and the line moves quickly since the ride vehicle holds so many guests at once.

Now, here’s a bonus tip from the crew — you’re going to head straight for Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster as soon as you step out of the Hollywood Tower Hotel. This is a great way to knock out two rides that have longer wait times later in the day without having to use a Lightning Lane Multi Pass selection on them.

I know what you’re thinking — what about Slinky Dog Dash? Well, the team suggests grabbing a Lightning Lane for this Tier 1 attraction. If you are staying at a Disney World resort, set your alarm early for the best chance to secure one. If you are not staying on property, you still have opportunities to get one. If you at first you don’t see one available, continue to check multiple times a day leading up to your trip and the day of! We’ve had luck grabbing one before.

And… what about Rise of the Resistance? Well, this now has a single rider line available. If they are utilizing that line, we say hop in it if you don’t mind your party being split up. You can also grab a Lightning Lane Single Pass for this attraction, so you can have options.
