FIRST LOOK: A Hollywood Studios Attraction PERMANENTLY Closes As New Construction Walls Go Up in Disney World

Yesterday was a tearful day in Disney’s Hollywood Studios for many people, as it was the final night to see Muppet*Vision 3D in all its glory and eat at PizzeRizzo.

Mama Melrose’s closed back in May, so these two locations were the last two things open in the land. Now that they’ve closed, we headed back into the park to see how things have changed, and we won’t lie, we got a little choked up.

The first thing we did when we walked into the park was check on the Hollywood Studios park map (while we find looking at it on the My Disney Experience App on your phone a little more convenient, paper maps are still available in each park), and sure enough, Muppets Courtyard is gone.

Now, the map just lists Grand Avenue as a section of the park, but there’s no courtyard nearby — just greenery. We expect to see another map (maybe sometime next year) that announces the arrival of the new Monsters, Inc. Land that’s taking its place, but for now, it just looks like there’s nothing there.

It’s gone!

But then it was time to head back to see the damage for ourselves, and we were honestly a little surprised that there were only a few shrubs and Cast Members blocking the entrance to the land. As of right now, it’s still easy to see the land as a whole, and we even noticed that the fountain is still on!

Here we are

We expect this will likely change soon as Disney really starts working on taking down details and (potentially) gutting buildings where needed. From the Monsters, INC. Land concept art (this is what’s replacing Muppets Courtyard), it looks like a lot of the buildings may be staying, but are just being recreated into new attractions for guests.

Don’t be too sad, though! Remember, the Muppets aren’t leaving for good — they’re heading over to Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster where they’ll take over for Aerosmith in 2026. Yes, the Muppets are upgrading from a show to a whole roller coaster!

  1. This is absolutely disgusting and unnecessary. The stupid roller coaster is not acceptable. Jim Henson had nothing to do with it. Muppet 3D was his swan song. It deserved respect and to be preserved. But hey, Monsters Inc. I’m sure there weren’t many other dead areas that it could have occupied……….(sarcasm folks)
