We’ve got a BIG casting update regarding Disney World’s NEW villains show! Disney is looking for Maleficent, and now we know a little more about this deliciously evil character.

Disney World is gearing up for LOTS of changes soon, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios is seeing a good chunk of those renovations. Many of these updates were announced at the latest Destination D23 event, including news about new lands, revamped shows and attractions, and more. In fact, we’ve already started to see these projects kick off as Disney closes rides and attractions. Now, Disney’s given us another clue about one of its most anticipated changes.
Disney World’s new villains show Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After appears to be moving forward full steam. The brand-new show is set to debut this summer and will feature several fan-favorite Disney villains like Cruella de Vil, Captain Hook, and Maleficent performing on stage.

One of the most notable villains, Maleficient, will join the devious bunch, and Disney is still looking for the mistress of evil. We recently spotted an open casting online calling for Maleficient, so if you’ve ever dreamed of being a villain, you can submit your audition for the opportunity to portray an iconic Disney villain.

The synopsis for the casting call gave us an interesting description of what Disney is looking to achieve with this show. The show aims to “transform Sunset Showcase into the mysterious, reflective realm of the Magic Mirror.” The show will feature appearances by dozens of fiendish foes breaking through the glass to take the stage in live production numbers.

The online submission outlines the details Disney is looking for in the ideal casting of this performer, including a female-identifying performer between 5’10 and 6’1 and is reported to be a non-singing role. There is also a short monologue piece that will need to be submitted along with the audition, and submissions will be taken through February 1st at 11:30 PM ET.

Here’s how Disney describes the Maleficent character in the new show: “As portrayed in the animated classic, Maleficent, mistress of evil, prides herself on being the epitome of villainy. With her powerful magic and vengeful demeanor, Maleficent will do anything to ensure her will is carried out.” Oooh — spooky!

The audition monologue gives us further insight into the role. Maleficent says, “Well, well….quite a glittering assemblage we have here, this evening. And dressed in such festive, holiday attire. My, my, we have royalty….nobility….the gentry….and, how quaint, even the rebel! I really felt quite distressed at not receiving an invitation to tonight’s festivities. I am sure it was merely due to some….oversight.” Uh-oh. Seems like she’s not happy about the snub. She goes on to say, “Hear me when I say, you shall not get the best of me again. Remember…I am the mistress of all evil! You should be wise to never forget it!”
