Disney’s Hollywood Studios’ brand-new Villains show just took one major step towards opening!
Scheduled to open to guests this summer, Disney Villains: Unfairly After will have several Villain fan favorites take the stage in an all-new live show. While details are still rolling out, we did get a little breadcrumb thanks to a new permit Disney just filed regarding the show’s general construction.
On January 8th, 2025, Disney World filed a Notice of Commencement permit designated at 854 Sunset Boulevard DHS, Bay Lake, Florida. The location is at Sunset Showcase, which was the previous home of Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy. Notably, this attraction closed last year and will be replaced by the new Villains show later this summer.
It’s stated within the permit that work will be done by InterAmerica Stage, Inc. It’s also noted that the general description of improvement is simply “general construction”.
According to Disney, construction will consist of the Disney Live Entertainment team transforming Sunset Showcase into “the mysterious, reflective realm of the Magic Mirror.”
Iconic Disney evildoers such as Captain Hook, Maleficient, and Cruella de Vil will apparently break through the glass to take the stage for live production numbers. These specific roles recently had a casting call and we can’t wait to see the performances live in person!
This new show is just another major inclusion in Disney World’s larger embrace of the Disney Villains. While construction on Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After commences, over at Magic Kingdom, Disney is planning to build an entire Villains-themed land.
We’ll continue to keep you posted on this new show and all the latest updates from Disney World, so stay tuned right here at AllEars to stay in the know!
