Heads up Hollywood Studios fans — one of the park’s attractions is now closed forever.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios is home to tons of different attractions — some family-friendly for all ages, and others more thrill-centered that are more intended for older kids and beyond. However, one of the family-friendly shows played its last time yesterday, and the attraction is officially closed now.
Over on Sunset Boulevard, tucked away near Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, you’ll find Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy. Or, we should say, the former home of Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy. As of today, October 8th, it’s officially closed.
The area surrounding the attraction is currently roped off.
Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy was about a 15-minute show that brought you to a virtual racing track with Lightning McQueen and his friends. He was set on teaching you how to use the virtual track, but his nemesis Chick Hicks breaks into the system and challenges Lightning to another race on the system. Lightning McQueen calls on his friends to help him when Chick starts to cheat during the race, helping Lightning win despite all the struggles put in his way. It featured a super impressive Lightning McQueen animatronic and was good for all ages.
But don’t worry! This area won’t go unused, because a new Villains show is on its way! We don’t know much about it just yet as Disney hasn’t released many details, but we do know that it’ll be debuting in 2025 and that it’ll transform this area of the park (Sunset Showcase) into “the mysterious, reflective realm of the Magic Mirror.” We also know that the show has teased villains like Captain Hook, Maleficent, and Cruella de Vil, and that they may break through the glass as they take the stage for live production numbers.
We’ll be sure to keep you updated on the progress of this area as we see it develop, so stay tuned to AllEars for all the latest news!
