Slinky Dog Dash is one of the most popular rides in all of Disney World, and we don’t see that changing any time soon.

We think it’s a great family coaster with its fun theming and exciting twists and turns, but there are some things about it we believe could make it a smoother experience. Disney, if you’re listening, these are some new rules we think should be implemented to make the ride even better!
A Virtual Queue
We know, this is controversial, but we really do think a virtual queue at Slinky Dog Dash could be very beneficial during certain times of the year (namely summer). The queue for this ride is mostly in the sun, and during the summer, that’s brutal.

It’s common for people to overheat in this line if they don’t have water with them or a way to cool themselves down. That’s why we think during busier and hotter times of year, having a virtual queue to keep people from standing in the hot sun when they don’t have to can be very beneficial.
Complimentary Umbrellas or Fans
If getting a Virtual Queue for busier and hotter times isn’t going to happen, then we think having complimentary cooling features fans or umbrellas could also be very beneficial. And if they had a way to return these items before you reach the end of the queue, right before you get on the ride, then Disney wouldn’t be losing tons of money!

We’re sure a lot of guests would be appreciative of these amenities, especially if they’ve split off from the rest of their party and left their cooling towels, fans, or umbrellas with the rest of the group.
A More Dedicated Queue
Speaking of the queue, there are also some portions of it that aren’t as dedication/don’t have many railings or a fence. This means it’s much harder for some people, especially younger kids, to know where the line exactly goes.

We’ve had many experiences where smaller groups of people, say single riders or groups of 2, have larger groups behind them who don’t realize the group in front of them is smaller, and sometimes don’t leave enough room between themselves and the party in front of them. If there were more clear fences as the line doubles back on itself multiple times, this problem could be solved!
A Single Rider Line
And lastly, Disney, we are BEGGING you to implement a single rider line for this ride! There’s been a single rider line at Millennium Falcon since it opened that has always worked well, and the recent one added to Rise of the Resistance has been a huge hit too. So why not add one at Slinky Dog Dash?

Genuinely, this would be a great way for solo travelers and groups that are willing to split up to be able to experience this line faster. However since the ride only seats two people in each car, similar to Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, it’s possible the single rider line may move a little slower than others, but we still think something is better than nothing!

What other rules do you think should be implemented for Slinky Dog Dash? Tell us in the comments!
When we went in a group of three, one of us had to sit with another rider. They just asked until they found a single rider. So they don’t need a dedicated line. I will say it is a very hot line and needs more shade and fans. I don’t care for virtual queues, we had fun just standing in line. At one point, the entirety of Toy Story was walk on lines for us, we got lucky, and rode multiple rides back to back to back.
Not a fan of virtual queue and especially at the Studios where there so few rides and they all get long waits. I visit frequently so it’s doesn’t affect me as much but for guests who might be making one trip, and they really want to ride Slinky Dog, and they want to wait hours to do it, that should be their choice. Now Disney, especially at the Studios, does a lousy job of making guests comfortable in the queues, so I’m all for shade and fans, but don’t restrict who can get on the rides.
At least if you’re getting it for free, you can complain until they do it.
I definitely think adding a virtual queue would be an excellent idea for Slinky Dog Dash. That ride is meant for families, and the height limit is such that smaller kids can and should ride it. Smaller kids don’t necessarily have the patience or stamina to stand in a line for over an hour for a 2 minute attraction. It is also unfair to those who are standing in line to have large groups of people pushing through to catch up with the person who did standin line. Of course, Slinky Dog Dash is not the only ride that would benefit from a virtual queue. Flight of Passage in Animal Kingdom would do well to adopt one, too. Having worked in Animal Kingdom, I’ve heard of guests passing out from heat in that line as well!
Slinky effectively has a single rider line now. By split ring the existing line into even and odd-sized parties just after the merge point, it’s easy to fill every seat.
