Test Track closed down in EPCOT on June 17th, 2024 for a reimagining. We know the attraction will be reopening in 2025 with a new queue and new ride scenes.

We have been keeping a close eye (and ear) on the progress in EPCOT. We have been hearing lots of construction noises coming from behind the walls, and you can see some of the progress from the monorail.
We just spotted a NEW permit that was filed for the Test Track construction that might give us some hints. The permit was filed on September 12th by Walt Disney Imagineering.

The permit is to install set elements and the work will be done by Icarus Exhibits, Inc. If this company sounds familiar at all, it is probably because it is! Icarus Exhibits is a local Florida business that has been working with Disney World since the 1990s. You can see their work all around Disney World!

Most recently, you can see Icarus Exhibits work at a new Magic Kingdom attraction. Icarus Exhibits created the water tower at Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in collaboration with Walt Disney Imagineering!

The permit that was just filed is fairly vague and does not give many details on the work being done. The permit only gives a general description of the work being done. In this case the general description is just “install set elements.” However, it is still exciting to see permits being filed as that means progress is being made.

We have previously seen permits being filed for the Jon Richards Company to “install set elements”, and for “general construction” by Coastal Steel, Inc. This new permit means progress is being made and we can expect to see set elements from Icarus Exhibits in the new Test Track!

The reimagining of Test Track is expected to introduce a brand-new queue that will feature six distinct exhibits. These exhibits will celebrate the vehicles and the people behind the vehicles.

As well, construction on Test Track will also be happening in the ride itself. There will be brand-new show scenes that will showcase technological advances, as well as a ride through the scenic outdoors.

That is not all though! The exterior of the attraction will also be getting some remodeling. The pavilion will be getting a new exterior that will be reminiscent of the original pavilion design.

Disney has not yet announced an exact date that Test Track will reopen, all we know is that it will be sometime in 2025. While we wait for Test Track to reopen in 2025, make sure you check out the 20 things you must do in EPCOT:
