Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is opening in Magic Kingdom on June 28th and we’ve been keeping an eye out for every single detail Disney can spare about this new ride!

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is “Almost… HERE”

Disney has shared that Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will pick up the story of The Princess and the Frog “after the final kiss, and join Princess Tiana and Louis on a musical adventure – featuring some of the powerful music from the film – as they prepare for their first-ever Mardi Gras performance.”

As part of the new story, Tiana has opened her very own restaurant and food company — and obtained a large water tower in the process! Disney shared some behind-the-scenes details about how Imagineers brought this water tower to life.

Water tower

Disney worked with a local Florida business, Icarus Exhibits, to create this water tower fit for royalty! Icarus was founded in 1987 just down the road from Disney World. They’ve been working with Disney since the 1990s when they first worked with Imagineers at Magic Kingdom.

They created this immersive set piece by collaborating — Imagineers dreamed up the design, and Icarus helped bring it to life.

“Whenever we’re creating new experiences, we frequently work with trusted and valued industry leaders like Icarus,” said Peter Ricci, principal show manager at Walt Disney Imagineering. “That was no different for the construction of the beautiful water tower at Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. I’ve had the privilege of working with Icarus for more than two decades now, and their work as a longtime collaborator never ceases to amaze me.”

And, for Icarus co-owner Drayton Knox, the project hits close to home as someone who has lived in Florida his whole life.

“Growing up here in Florida, I’ve been going to Magic Kingdom since I was seven years old,” he said. “Any time we work on anything at the park, it’s special. Working on an attraction like Tiana’s is really cool.”
