This Disney World hotel is suddenly getting popular.
Construction and refurbishments are a fact of life at Disney World, especially at the complex’s hotels. In fact, one of the resort’s older hotels — the Port Orleans French Quarter — is currently undergoing a massive modernization that is making it a favorite for so-called “Disney Adults” to book in the coming months.
The Port Orleans French Quarter has one of the most interesting histories in Disney World. The hotel complex first opened in 1991 as the Port Orleans Resort. A decade later, the hotel was merged with the nearby Dixie Landings Resort, with the original being designated Port Orleans French Quarter while the latter became Port Orleans Riverside, with both under the Port Orleans banner.

Beginning in May of 2024, Disney began a massive refurbishment project at Port Orleans French Quarter to modernize the majority of the hotel’s rooms. The new rooms will feature upgraded and modernized amenities and subtle thematic touches toward The Princess & The Frog (which is set in New Orleans). At the time of its announcement, the refurbishment was scheduled to last through November of 2024.
These new rooms, combined with the fact that Port Orleans’ lush landscaping and theming combined with its “out-of-the-way location” on Walt Disney World’s property, have made the French Quarter a popular choice for Disney hotel guests booking stays at the end of 2024 into 2025.
The question is: Will someone booking right now be guaranteed a newly refurbished room?
We reached out to Disney with that question, and were told that they “did not have any details” on that at this time. However, given the fact that some of the new rooms are already in use and there seems to be no delay in the refurbishment timeline, it seems likely that any booking from the end of December into 2025 should be for a refurbished room.
Disney Adults are booking rooms at the Port Orleans French Quarter thanks to the three-decade-old hotel’s newly refurbished rooms. Stay tuned to AllEars for further updates on Walt Disney World’s hotels.

Have you ever stayed at Port Orleans French Quarter? Would you head back for a refurbished room? Let us know in the comments below.
Are they going to upgrade the HVAC system? I would love that.
Stayed there in February of 2015 and loved it! Would definitely come back to experience one of the refurbished rooms!!
My husband and I have just returned from this Disney Hotel. We stayed here last year and loved it so much we chose it again this year.. and should we return to Florida it will be top of our list.
I LOVE French Quarter!!! It’s “small” (in a good way!) and feels very cozy. Plus you can take the boat to Disney Springs. You can also walk to Boatwright’s at FQ Riverside. Great staff everywhere!
Our family loves the French Quarter! It really does feel like home. The staff and amenities are top notch. We have never had a bad experience here.
We are planning on returning in 2025 and will definitely be staying at the French Quarter; which will be our 5th time staying at the resort.
Yes & Yes.
