BEWARE This Unexpected Problem on Your Next Disney World Trip

It’s still technically summer at Disney World and you know what that means!

Disney World Crowds

People are trying to squeeze in last-minute trips to the parks, of course. We’ve seen some seriously long lines and even bigger crowds, but even still, we hadn’t seen any parks hit guest capacity yet this summer — until now!

It’s not every day that a Disney World park reaches capacity — especially when it’s a Disney World WATER park! On August 7th, Typhoon Lagoon was temporarily at capacity and no longer admitting any more people into the park.

We reached out to a Disney World Cast Member over the phone who told us that “Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park is having some operational downtimes today so they are not admitting any new guests at this time.”

When we asked if they would be reopening today, the Cast Member said, “I don’t have that information, but in the app and the website there will be an update if they do reopen today.”

But, when we looked at the My Disney Experience app and website, no warnings were posted indicating the park was closed. Luckily, we called back shortly after and were told that the park had reopened. So, while we’re not totally sure of the specifics other than “operational downtimes” according to the Cast Member, it does appear as though everything is all good now.

Ultimately, though, this is just another great example of always being flexible when you’re at Disney World and expecting the unexpected. The parks can reach capacity at any given time, and this is especially true as we get closer and closer to the Halloween and Christmas seasons.

If you’re planning on visiting Disney World over the holiday season, consider making backup plans or just preparing your group for busy crowds and wait times.

  1. I was at TL yesterday and it wasn’t a crowd problem that they stopped people coming in. It was that there was a plumbing problem and most of the rides were closed other than the wave pool miss adventure falls and crush and gusher as they are on a different water system. We decided to leave early because of this and everyone was given a redemption pass to come back for free another day.
