Remember how we said the #1 theme park in the U.S. isn’t Disney World?

You read it right. Dollywood, a theme park in a little town called Pigeon Forge, Tennessee overtook both Disney World and Disneyland (what a shock, right?). Now that you’ve gotten the news and are absorbing it, we figured you’d want to try and get an apples-to-apples comparison of Dollywood and Disney World when it comes to the price of entry. Well, that’s what we’re here for! Let’s break it all down!
Again, as we said, Dollywood was named the best theme park in America by the National Amusement Park Historical Association, over Disney World and Disneyland.

Also, Dollywood’s new Big Bear Mountain roller coaster was named as the best new attraction in the U.S.!

Now that we’ve got you sufficiently excited and you’re checking out Dollywood as a potential vacation destination, let’s compare the prices so you can have a clear apples-to-apples comparison with Disney World. (Because of variable ticket pricing, I chose July 1st, 2024 as the date for us to compare prices.)
Let’s start with Dollywood.

With Dollywood, you’ve got these options when it comes to tickets — 1, 2, or 3-days.

If you look closely, you’ll find that the bang for your buck gets better the more days you visit. For example, a 2-day ticket is only $27 more than a 1-day and a 3-day ticket is only $10 more than a 2-day. You can also add on water park access for an additional fee.
They’ve also got a limited-time offer on a 1-Day ticket for $10 off.

This offer is only available online and it’s only valid for one day at Dollywood from June 3rd, 2024 through July 8th, 2024. (Don’t miss out!)
Now, let’s have a look at Disney World.

With Disney World, you’ve got these options when it comes to tickets:

If you look closely, for a single park, 1-day ticket you’re looking at $149 (Animal Kingdom) up to $174 (Magic Kingdom). That means the cheapest ticket to Disney World (a 1-day ticket to Animal Kingdom) is $10 more expensive than a 3-day ticket to Dollywood with water park access added on (their most expensive ticket).

As you can see (and probably imagined) Disney World is just more expensive than Dollywood, and we haven’t even talked about the pricing for their Annual Pass (Disney World) /Season Pass (Dollywood) options, but that’s beyond the scope of this post. You can find current pricing on each resort’s website or check out our Annual Passholder page!

We’ll leave it there with this one, because that’s a lot to dig into! Let us know if you’re going to visit Dollywood since it’s taken the number-one spot in the U.S. (Disney World came in second and Disneyland came in third).
Until then, keep checking back with AllEars again soon for more.

Will you be visiting Dollywood in 2024? Let us know in the comments!
Probably not for the hard core Disney fans which sometimes cannot even be satisfied by Disney. For everyone else it is a great park to visit and I have been several times over the past 10 years, though only at Christmas. The value far exceeds the ticket price. I like it much better than Cedar Fair.
