STORY TIME: A Disney World Hotel Problem Sent Me on a Wild MISSION for Some Water

You know who just got back from a Disney World trip? (It’s not me, for once.)

Fantasyland

I work with some pretty amazing people here at AllEars, but not all of us are local to Orlando and visit the parks often. One of the editors here just got back from a Disney World trip and shared a ton of her experiences with us. We talk about staying hydrated all the time in Disney World and how important it is (taking a reusable water bottle with you is a good idea), so what do you do when all the vending machines you go to DON’T HAVE WATER?

Yep, that happened to our team member! She was staying on property at one of the All-Star Resorts and was in search of water at one of the vending machines. You’ll typically find vending machines around various areas of the hotel, such as the bus stops, in between some of the room buildings, and around the pool areas.

However, all of the vending machines she went to had one of three problems:

  • The vending machine just flat out didn’t work
  • It only took cash (and a lot of people aren’t carrying cash around the parks)
  • They were SOLD OUT of water

This was certainly interesting to us, as it was the first time someone on our team has run into this issue! She visited about 4 different vending machines before finally finding one that worked, which is a LONG way to go when you’re already thirsty and in need of water.

So what should you do if this happens to you? Well, to avoid this issue all together, you can head to a quick service dining location at your hotel and ask them for a cup of ice water, or they may even let you fill up your water bottle at their soda station (only with water though!). This is especially great to do to fill up your water bottle before heading to the parks for the day!

Otherwise, it’s a good idea to at least have a little cash on you at all times in Disney World, because you never know when you may run into a situation like this! We’ve also seen the Disney electronic payment system go down while we’re in the parks (it doesn’t happen often, but it DOES happen), meaning that all card payments will not go through. If you have cash, you can still buy what you’re looking to grab!

You can use cash or card in here!

If you’re close to the front desk, or will pass by at some point in the future, you can also politely let the Cast Members know about the issues you ran into, because they can’t fix an issue they don’t know about! The key word here is POLITELY though — it’s not that Cast Members’ fault if there’s an issue with the vending machine. These are BIG hotels, people, there’s a lot of ground to cover!
