Disney World’s newest attraction is almost officially open!
Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana is the newest experience opening in EPCOT and we’ve already had the chance to check it out for ourselves. Disney World is in the midst of Annual Passholder and Disney Vacation Club Member previews right now, and we’ve got an update you might need to know about.
Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana will officially open in EPCOT on October 16th, but right now select people can experience the attraction before it opens. Annual Passholder and DVC Member previews started on September 24th and caused a bit of chaos in the park.

Originally, Annual Passholders were told that a standby line would be used for Journey of Water, with Disney noting that a virtual queue would be used “as needed.” That time came pretty quickly because, by 10AM on September 24th, Annual Passholders and DVC Members were prompted to join a Virtual Queue to enter Journey of Water.
But, when we arrived at EPCOT on September 25th, 2023, we saw that Disney was once again using a standby queue for Journey of Water.
We spoke to a Cast Member who told us that they were using a standby queue for this attraction today because the demand just wasn’t quite as high as it was on the opening day of previews.
They shared that this wasn’t necessarily a permanent change and that depending on how long the line gets, Disney may decide to switch back to a Virtual Queue.
If you’re trying to hop in line for your preview, make sure you double-check which system Disney is using once you’re there. You can take a look at the My Disney Experience app for info or find the nearest Cast Member to find out what your next move should be.

I didn’t bother going yesterday (9/26) at 4pm bc the app said the virtual queue was closed and so I assumed that meant it was full for the day. Still not sure if that was the case…. Hoping to try again tomorrow.
