3 Times Mobile Order Is NOT Worth It in Disney World

Although we’ve done Disney World without phones, there are many reasons why it may be easier to use your phone in the parks.

Magic Kingdom

You can make Genie+ Lightning Lanes, check wait times, look at a map, use Mobile Merchandise Checkout, and more. Another popular option you can use on the My Disney Experience App is Mobile Order — a service that allows you to order food from your phone without waiting in line. There are many perks to Mobile Order, but is it always worth it?

While Mobile Order can be helpful tool during your Disney World day, there are some times where it makes sense to skip it. Let’s dig in and see when (and why) you should avoid Mobile Order!

1. You Could Be Missing Out on Snacks

When you click into a restaurant and add your order to the cart, you can scroll through all of the options…but you may actually be missing out on some items!

Mobile Order

Sometimes Mobile Order and online menus are not 100% up-to-date, especially when it comes to specialty or limited-time eats. With each season and holiday, new snacks and drinks pop-up at restaurants all over Disney World and you don’t want to miss out!

If you can, stop by the restaurant before placing a Mobile Order just to make sure you’re seeing everything on the menu. Most of the time Mobile Order is good to go, but it can’t hurt to double check!

2. Mobile Order Times Are Too Far Out

We all know the feeling — you’re running around Disney World and the hunger hits. HARD. It’s a busy day and you check Mobile Order only to find out the closest order window is an hour out. Now what?!

Well, even at restaurants that offer Mobile Order, you can walk up and order with a Cast Member. If you are set on getting some Casey’s Corner corn dog nuggets, but don’t wanna wait for the Mobile Order time to open, just hop in line! In this case, you’ll wait less time to get your food.

Another option is to change your original plan or travel to a restaurant further away that has closer Mobile Order times.

We highly recommend making your Mobile Orders ahead of time — we’re talking several hours in advance. It may seem a bit too early, but you can always adjust the time if you need to. It’s not always possible to predict when you’ll be hungry, but this is a good option to ensure times do not fill up.

Peak lunch and dinner times tend to fill up the fastest, so keep that in mind and possibly eat at off times to avoid crowds or a backup at the restaurant.

3. The Restaurant Lines Are Short

Speaking of ordering at the restaurant, if you are nearby and thinking about Mobile Ordering, check out the walk up line. If it’s super short or nonexistent, it might make more sense to just hop in line and order with a Cast Member.

This could end up being faster than ordering through your phone, but only if you see a short line. When you spot that line that seems to go on forever and ever, it’s time to pull out your phone and go through Mobile Order.

Look at that line!

Although Mobile Order is one of the most convenient features on the My Disney Experience app, it may not always be the answer! These are some times that it may make sense to skip Mobile Order, but do what makes the most sense for you and your group.
