The Disney World App Update That Has Us Counting Down to 2024

If you’ve traveled to Frontierland in the Magic Kingdom recently, you probably noticed the huge construction walls and “Tiana’s Foods” signs plastered around the park. Big changes are happening!

Out with the old, in with the new

Back on January 23rd, 2023, Splash Mountain officially closed in Disney World, then a few months later, the Disneyland version of the same attraction closed, too. But don’t worry, this log-flume ride isn’t going away completely; instead, Imagineers are working to re-theme the attraction into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, which is set to open in late 2024.

The Tiana’s Bayou Adventure ride will pick up after the end of The Princess and The Frog, where Tiana has successfully opened her restaurant, Tiana’s Palace. We’ve learned a lot about the premise for the new attraction, and even found out a sweet-scented surprise may be coming soon!

While we don’t have an exact opening date for the new attraction, we do know that construction is underway! Over in Disneyland, we noticed that the Disney app was updated to show guests what’s happening over in Critter Country.

But now, Disney World’s My Disney Experience app has been updated to reflect the change, too! Check out that bright, shiny graphic.

Now, all that’s left to do is wait (and imagine what kind of songs we will have stuck in our heads when the new attraction opens).

Sharika Mahdi, a visual artist, art educator, and alumna of the renowned New Orleans YAYA Arts Center (Young Aspirations Young Artists) was commissioned by Walt Disney Imagineering to create a series of four original paintings to inspire Imagineers working on the upcoming Disney Parks attraction, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. This piece featuring a jazz club scene is the second in the series. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will debut at Magic Kingdom Park in Florida and Disneyland Park in California in 2024. (Disney)
