Splash Mountain is permanently closing in Disneyland (and has already closed in Disney World) to make room for a new attraction called Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. Over in Florida, construction on this ride transformation is already underway. But in Disneyland, we’ve been waiting for the big closing day to come, and now it’s time to say farewell to Splash Mountain.

May 30th, 2023 marks the FINAL day Disneyland guests can ride Splash Mountain. This attraction has been drenching Disney guests for decades, so let’s see how it’s looking in Disneyland on closing day.
Splash Mountain will be permanently closed in Disneyland starting May 31st, 2023. But the bones of this classic flume-style attraction will stick around. Splash Mountain will transform into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, which will feature a story following the end of The Princess and the Frog movie. For now, let’s see what the LAST day of Splash Mountain looks like over on the west coast.
Park Crowds
We got to the park early in the morning and the crowds definitely showed up today!

The crowds absolutely COVERED portions of Main Street, U.S.A. as they got ready to head down the mountain one more time.

Unsurprisingly, a decent portion of this crowd headed straight toward the mountain!

Just look at all the people!

For our ride, the start of the line stretched back to Royal Street Veranda in New Orleans Square.
Wait Time
By around 8:30AM PT, Splash Mountain was at a 60-minute wait time. When we reached the actual queue, the wait time sign had not been updated but a Cast Member confirmed the actual wait time for us.

Surprisingly, by around 9:23AM PT, the wait time had actually DROPPED to 30 minutes, but the single rider line had a longer wait (around an hour).
As of 2:30PM PT, the ride was up to 170-minute wait.
Let’s Ride!
Before too long, we were able to hop into the main portion of the queue…

…and make our way through the line with the crowds.

We reached the front, and boarded our log!

Then it was off to experience Splash Mountain one last time.

And here’s a little look at some folks splashing down one of the drops.

We made it our way down a smaller drop…

…and into the indoor portion of the ride.

Here’s a peek at some of the animatronics on the ride.

It’s time to say goodbye to these characters…

…and their show scenes in the attraction.

Before too long, it was our turn to go down the big drop and make our way to the end of the attraction.

From what we saw and asked, the only Splash Mountain merchandise available on its last day were some pressed pennies.
This post will continue to be updated throughout the day with any further news — check back for more updates!
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure
Now, let’s talk about Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. The ride is set to take over the former Splash Mountain location in both Disney World and Disneyland in late 2024.

Look out for some of the voice actors you know and love from the original The Princess and the Frog movie, including Anika Noni Rose as Tiana, Bruno Campos as Naveen, Michael-Leon Wooley as Louis, and Jenifer Lewis as Mama Odie.

Disney has shared that story will pick up after the end of the original film and will feature original music. Tiana, Naveen, and Louis are going on an adventure through the bayou as they prepare to host a “one-of-a-kind Mardi Gras celebration.”
