EPCOT’s Test Track has been closed for refurbishment since last June, as Disney Imagineers transform the E-Ticket into a third incarnation. According to Disney, the refurbished attraction will “push innovation forward and celebrate humanity’s enduring drive (pun intended) on the thrilling road to a brighter tomorrow” while also celebrating “today’s innovation while highlighting the past, present, and future.” So, when will it be time to start your engines?

Currently, Disney’s official line on Test Track is that “The attraction will reopen in 2025.” However, the project passed a major milestone in early June, when the construction walls around the attraction were removed, our first clue that the attraction may be hosting guests soon.

From there, we can extrapolate a projected timeline based on a previous project: Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. Much like the transformation of Test Track 2.0 to Test Track 3.0, Tiana’s was a total refurbishment of a previously existing ride system (In Tiana’s case, it was of course Splash Mountain).

After over a year of construction, the walls outside of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure came down in late May of 2024. Over the next month, Disney hosted several previews for the ride, including for Cast Members (June 3rd and June 7th, and June 23rd through June 26th), Annual Passholders (June 13th, 14th, 15th, 16th, 17th, 18th, and 20th, 2024), Disney Vacation Club Members (June 14th and 19th), and a paid event for D23 Gold Members on June 22nd. Following those, the ride opened to the public on June 28th.

So, taking that into account, if the latest version of Test Track runs on a similar timeline following the removal of its construction walls (and doesn’t run into technical issues), it would likely mean that any previews for the attraction would begin in the next several weeks, with a full opening to the public in early to mid-July.

We’re eagerly awaiting the opening of the new iteration of Test Track – which will apparently include callbacks to the classic World of Motion – and think these clues may indicate that day is coming sooner rather than later. Stay tuned to AllEars for more on the ride’s reopening.
