Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is opening in 2024, and we’ve been waiting for every update we can possibly get!

We’ve seen concept art, opening timelines, and more about the ride, but do you know what inspired the iconic “mountain”? Disney just shared more inside looks into the story behind this new attraction, but would you believe us if we told you Tabasco Sauce was involved? We can explain.
We got the chance to experience some of that inspiration firsthand in New Orleans, where Disney shared quite a bit about the inspiration behind the ride — including where the idea for the iconic salt dome came from.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure picks up after the end of The Princess and The Frog, where Tiana has successfully opened her restaurant, Tiana’s Palace. The story of this new ride starts in the queue, where guests learn that Tiana has also started Tiana’s Foods, an employee-owned cooperative. By combining her talents with the community’s, they’ve turned an old salt dome into a beloved brand.

Tiana purchased the salt mine and the large salt dome it operated from, and with the help of her mother Eudora, Naveen, Louis, and fellow owners of the cooperative, she began to grow vegetables, spices, and herbs for her recipes on the revived land.

Disney shared that they drew inspiration from the Avery Island salt dome in Louisiana — and that just so happens to be where Tabasco Sauce was founded and is still made today!

Tiana’s Foods houses both a boutique farm and a working and teaching kitchen. She and her colleagues are working on creating all sorts of new products, including a new hot sauce — which is pretty apropos when you consider the inspiration for the story.

The details of the ride itself are still under wraps, but we’ll be sharing more as we learn! As always, stay tuned to AllEars for all the latest Disney news!
